Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is now ready to introduce paperless governance system, reports The Himalayan Times. With this new system, KMC can have its services available directly people’s doorsteps.
KMC will switch to paperless governance from mid-July under the Municipal Administration and Revenue System project.
KMC Information Officer Basanta Acharya said, “In the beginning, day-to-day work such as relationship verification, vital registration, and revenue submission in all wards of the metropolitan city will be handled online from mid-July. Gradually, we will provide all our services through online system so that the general public can avail of our services from their homes.”
KMC had started working on this project a year ago; initially conducting a preliminary test in seven wards and expanding it to 32 wards. All these wards have been monitoring work of each of these wards online.
In total, it will cost around Rs 40 million for KMC to switch to the new governances with funds from Asian Development Bank and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development.
Along with this, KMC is also working on to approve building blueprints electronically. Presently, more than 200,000 house building blueprints have been approved.
