Samsung Galaxy A07s Silently Launched in Nepal: What Does the ‘s’ Actually Add?

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A07s, which is a slight refresh of the original A07 that was first introduced almost a year ago. The phone looks completely identical to the Galaxy A07 from the outside. However, there are some changes.

So, what are the changes? We’ll discuss that in the overview section and find out the Galaxy A07s refreshments Samsung brought.

What is the Price of the Samsung Galaxy A07s in Nepal?

The Samsung Galaxy A07s price in Nepal is Rs. 30,499 for the single 4/64GB variant and is available for purchase at all authorised stores.

The price is a bit steep compared to the same trim of the standard Galaxy A07, which costs just Rs. 25,499. The Rs. 5,000 difference is absolutely massive for practically the same phone. But given the phone arrived a lot later during these turbulent times like these, the hike isn’t all that far-fetched.

The phone is a bit more expensive than the original A07, alright. But what extra are you getting? Let’s focus on that:

Samsung Galaxy A07s Overview

The Galaxy A07s’ design is essentially unchanged from the Galaxy A07. It uses the same glass front with a plastic back and plastic frame and carries the same IP54 rating. The colour options are also familiar, with Grey, Light Violet, and Dark Green variants.

On the front, the Galaxy A07s uses the same 6.7-inch PLS LCD panel as the A07, with a 90Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution spanning 720 x 1600 pixels.

A bump to 120Hz would have been good to see in this refresh, but Samsung only introduced 90Hz on its most affordable line, starting with the A07. So I would assume it will be a good few years before the brand finally gives us 120Hz.

Now we move on to one of the parts that changed — the chipset. The Samsung Galaxy A07s is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99+ chipset. The standard A07, in the meantime, had the standard G99.

With “+” in its name, don’t expect a dramatically faster phone. In fact, the chipset’s core architecture is actually the same as the non-plus variant. However, the 2026 update of the Helio G99 now supports LPDDR5X RAM, while the original silicon only supported LPDDR4X memory.

So does that mean we will be getting LPDDR5X RAM with the Samsung Galaxy A07s? Maybe not. But if we are, you can actually expect a snappier experience.

As for the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy A07s comes with a 50MP main, a 2MP depth sensor, and an 8MP selfie camera. The auxiliary lens on the back doesn’t serve a proper purpose. Hopefully, Samsung will soon swap it out with a modest 5MP ultrawide, which serves an actual purpose.

Likewise, we get a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging support on the Samsung Galaxy A07s, which came to me as a bit of a surprise. I wasn’t expecting Samsung to bump the battery capacity on a soft refresh or anything, but this phone has actually grown 4 grams in weight. So I was hoping that weight came from some extra battery, but nope!

The funny thing is the phone also keeps the same dimensions. So, if the phone is the same size and the battery is the same, you are left wondering where that extra 4 grams come from.

Lastly, the phone comes with Android 16 with One UI 8 skin on top. This is another difference over the standard Galaxy A07, which booted on older Android 15.

As for future support, we are still getting up to six generations of major OS upgrades, alongside six years of security updates. For a budget smartphone, that’s significant.

But just because your phone will get software updates for that many years down the line doesn’t mean the hardware will also keep up. That’s an interesting contradiction.

Samsung Galaxy A07s vs Galaxy A07: So What Actually Changed?

When you put the two phones side by side, most of the specification sheet looks almost identical.

In conclusion, the differences are surprisingly small. The Samsung Galaxy A07s gets a newer variant of the Helio G99, Android 16, and adds a sliver of weight. And that’s it. So the Galaxy A07s isn’t a new phone, just a small refresh of the phone — an “s” update, just as the name suggests.

As for price, it can’t be helped right now. However, you could pick a better phone at a similar price. The Ai+ Nova 2 is probably the best pick right now, which offers a full-fledged 5G chip at a more affordable price. The HTC Wildfire E7 Elite makes even more sense, but it can be a bit difficult to find.

Then there is the issue of brand value and after-sales support with picks like these. If those things matter to you, going for something like the Honor X6d or Redmi 17 could be more sensible. Perhaps you could even get the Samsung Galaxy A07 instead and save Rs. 5,000 on basically the same phone.
