realme C85 5G Finally Joins the C85 Lineup in Nepal with Dimensity 6300 SoC

It’s not the first time Nepal has seen a realme C85 phone. In fact, there have already been two instances of the smartphone: the realme C85 4G and the C85 Pro. Now, realme has gone ahead and added a new phone to the C85 lineup with the C85 5G.

The 4G variant of the C85 was quite unique cause it offered a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, which for a 4G chipset is kind of hard to reach. But with the 5G addition, things could be different.

To be honest, the previously launched C85 smartphones, the C85 4G and the C85 Pro, were not the best phones. The price just didn’t match the specs. And seeing even some 4G smartphones with entry-level specs carrying a price tag of almost Rs. 50,000, I was expecting the C85 5G variant to cross that mark too.

Thank god it didn’t. But price doesn’t always tell the full story. So let’s see how the phone actually holds up; have they just swapped out the chip, or is there anything else new?

realme C85 5G Overview

Smartphones usually follow the same design language across a lineup, so it’s not a surprise that the new realme C85 5G looks identical to the previous iterations, the 4G and the Pro. It’s got the same rectangular camera module housing three camera cutouts, along with a pulse light and a normal flashlight.

As I said with the previous iterations, the design feels generic. The only real difference between the 4G and the 5G variant is the color. The C85 5G comes in two color options, Parrot Purple and Peacock Green.

With a similar design and build quality, it’s no surprise that the phone even carries the same ingress protection of IP66/68/69/69K, which, not gonna lie, is pretty impressive.

Their website even mentions that the phone holds a Guinness World Record title. But don’t get too excited, cause in a small note below, they’ve clarified that it’s actually the record for the most people performing a mobile phone water resistance test simultaneously. I guess they’ll hand out a Guinness World Record for just about anything these days.

Display-wise, the 4G and 5G variants are basically the same. It runs a 6.8-inch IPS panel with just HD+ resolution, and it’s honestly a bit wild seeing HD+ become more and more common even on budget smartphones. It’s like the displays on these phones are evolving backwards.

But at least it runs a 144Hz refresh rate, and with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 handling all the raw power, this 5G chipset should actually be able to hit that number beyond just settings and the UI.

That said, the chipset is definitely a major improvement over its smaller 4G sibling. Besides that, the phone ships with 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

There’s nothing new or exciting in the camera department either. It shares the same setup as the C85 4G and the C85 Pro, with a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP selfie shooter.

The battery is great, though. It’s the same 7,000mAh Si/C unit with 45W fast charging that we’ve seen on the 4G variant, and it supports reverse wired and bypass charging as well.

The C85 5G runs Android 15 with realme UI 6.0 out of the box, which is starting to feel a bit old, almost two years old now, with Android 17 already out. But since the C85 lineup launched all the way back in 2025, it’s hard to complain too much about that.

The realme C85 5G isn’t a bad phone by any means. The battery is genuinely great, the build quality and ingress protection are hard to fault, and performance with the Dimensity 6300 gets the job done. But that’s about where the highlights end.

The display, where you spend most of your time with the phone, isn’t good, at least compared to what other brands offer at this price range.

The Moto G57 Power, which costs less, offers a better chipset along with a similar-sized battery and a far better display, making it the better pick. Then there’s the POCO M8s, which offers similar specs to the Moto G57.

And if you’re eyeing the higher variant of the C85 5G that costs Rs. 45,000, realme’s own P3 is a much better option, with an FHD+ display and a much faster chipset.
