Redmi Note 15 4G Lands in Nepal: The “Cheapest” Note in the Series

The Redmi Note 15 Series has finally entered the Nepali market officially with four new smartphones: the Redmi Note 15 4G, Note 15 5G, Note 15 Pro, and the Note 15 Pro+. Today, we’re going to talk about the cheapest of the bunch, the Redmi Note 15 4G.

The Redmi Note series has long been known for striking the perfect balance between price and performance, often making headlines for the specs it offers. However, with the base model now reaching sky-high prices, it’s bound to grab attention once again, but this time, for all the wrong reasons.

What is the Price of Redmi Note 15 4G in Nepal?

The Redmi Note 15 4G price in Nepal starts at Rs. 29,999 for the 6/128GB variant and Rs. 35,999 for the 8/256GB variant. As part of the launch offer, buyers can get the Redmi Buds 6 Play at a 50% discount when purchased alongside the phone. The buds’ standard price is Rs. 1,999.

On top of that, the phone is available for purchase via cash or 0% EMI at all Xiaomi-authorized stores.

Now, it’s time to state the obvious. Yes, the Note 15 4G has received a significant price hike compared to the Note 14 4G, Rs. 6,000, to be precise. And we have AI to thank for that.

We first saw this trend with RAM shortages, and then it hit the PC and laptop market. Now, the smartphone industry is taking a hit, with phone prices skyrocketing across the board. Xiaomi is one of the first companies to pass these increased costs directly onto consumers, and we can be fairly certain that brands like Samsung and Apple will follow suit. So buckle up, because massive price hikes may soon become the new normal.

Let’s ignore the price for a moment and focus on the Redmi Note 15 4G itself. Looking at previous models like the Redmi Note 14 4G or even the Redmi Note 13 4G, the Note 15 4G clearly follows a familiar trend.

That trend is offering a good display, decent performance, and long-lasting battery life. On paper, the specs look almost perfect.

However, once we factor in the price, things start to fall apart. It simply doesn’t make much sense, especially when you compare it with other 2025 smartphones in the same price range. Still confused? Well, let’s start with the overview, and the picture should become much clearer.

Redmi Note 15 4G Overview

The Redmi Note 15 4G, just like the 5G variant, has seen a massive change in the design department. The first thing you’ll notice is that the camera module now sits right in the top-middle section. As a result, the entire Note 15 series now shares a similar design language, and it’s actually quite hard to tell them apart at a glance.

The only real way to differentiate the non-Pro version is by looking at the curves. The curved design, which was previously exclusive to the Pro variant, has now trickled down to the non-Pro models. Because of this, the Note 15 4G looks a lot more premium than before. But sadly, this also means bye-bye 3.5mm jack.

The entire body is made of plastic. This is another trade-off compared to last year, where the Redmi Note 14 featured an aluminum frame. Still, thanks to the curved frame, the phone manages to feel fairly refined in hand.

Props to the curved frame, the bezels look razor-thin, and the 6.77-inch AMOLED display feels even more immersive. The rest of the display specs remain familiar to the Note 15 5G, including an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and brightness peaking at 3,200 nits.

The only downside here is that the 4G variant misses out on any form of display protection, which is a bit of a bummer, especially considering that even the Redmi Note 14 4G came with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Powering the Redmi Note 15 4G is the MediaTek Helio G100. It’s a pretty reliable chipset and a go-to option if you’re looking for a top-tier 4G processor. The phone comes in 6GB or 8GB RAM variants, with up to 128GB of storage on the base model. If you need more space, there’s also a 256GB option available.

On the camera front, while the design of the camera module has changed, the actual camera hardware remains the same. You get the familiar 108MP main camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, there’s the same 20MP selfie camera. In my honest opinion, this setup feels a bit underwhelming for a phone in this price range.

Speaking of weak points, the Note 15 4G boots Android 15 with HyperOS 2 on top. While it’s not unheard of for a new smartphone to ship with an older Android version, my main concern here is the UI. Xiaomi still doesn’t seem to have a strong grip on software optimization.

Redmi’s 4G variants aren’t really designed with a clean UI in mind; instead, they focus on what general users value more, like battery life. And on that front, the phone delivers with a massive 6,000mAh battery, which is very impressive and just 500mAh short of what the Pro and Pro+ models offer.

See what I mean? The specs of the Redmi Note 15 4G make it feel like a phone that’s meant to compete in the Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000 segment. However, with the recent price hike, the price-to-performance ratio ends up looking pretty poor for the Redmi Note 15 4G.

That said, comparing it with other 2025 smartphones doesn’t really paint the full picture just yet. Until brands like Infinix, Samsung, Honor, Vivo, and others start launching their new models with price hikes, it’s still too early to pass a final judgment on the Redmi Note 15 4G.

This puts the Note 15 4G in an awkward middle ground, where it looks solid on paper, but struggles to justify its cost in the current market. It’s not that the phone itself is bad; rather, the shifting industry landscape is making it harder for devices like this to stand out.

But the sad reality is that even after the AI bubble eventually bursts, we’re unlikely to see smartphone prices come down. After all, when was the last time a large corporation willingly lowered prices purely for the benefit of its customers?
