MG ZS EV catches on fire!
According to reports, MG ZS EV (Ba Pradesh 01 027 Pa 1581) ignited on 25 December 2023 near Deuba Chowk at Budhanilkantha.
The vehicle was left to charge at 6 PM and caught fire at 1 AM. Sudip Lamichanne, the owner of the vehicle (according to TechPana), reported the incident to the authorities.
As the ZS EV was charging outdoors in an open space, the damage was limited to the vehicle.
Metropolitan Police Budhanilkantha has verified the incident.
It is interesting to note that the actual cause of the fire is still unknown.
The owner has denied that short circuit issues were the cause and has not disclosed any further information regarding the incident.
Since the news broke out yesterday, multiple news sites have already reported on the incident.
The owner has been in contact with Paramount Motors Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of MG vehicles in Nepal, regarding the incident.
MG Nepal has released its press release claiming a sudden electric wire short-circuit as the main culprit.
MG ZS EV is one of the popular EV options in the Nepali market. Unfortunately, the fire incident raises much-needed awareness and questions on electric vehicle safety and accountability in Nepal.
