Xiaomi 13 Pro Overview
Design
The Xiaomi 13 Pro has an aluminum frame and a curved ceramic glass back to compliment the curved front. It has a square camera module to house three cameras, a flash, and Leica branding.
The phone is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance. It has power and volume buttons on the right side, while the top has an IR blaster and secondary microphones.
The bottom includes a primary speaker, a mic, a USB-C port, and a SIM card slot. Unfortunately, the USB only supports the USB 2.0 standard instead of the latest USB 3.2, which is embarrassing for a premium device.
Display
Xiaomi 13 Pro has a 6.73-inch 10-bit QHD+ AMOLED display with a 3200 x 1440 resolution. The display is curved at the sides.
It has support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision with a partial peak brightness of 1900nits. Moreover, the LTPO display can achieve a dynamic 1–120Hz refresh rate.
The phone also features an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
Hardware
Powering the Xiaomi 13 Pro is the latest high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor from Qualcomm.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 uses TSMC’s 4nm technology and boasts a new CPU microarchitecture in a 1+4+3 configuration with four CPU clusters that combine the flagship Arm Cortex-X3 core, three power-efficient Cortex-A510 cores, and four performance cores.
In contrast to earlier models, Qualcomm has chosen to use two different CPU cores in the performance cluster, consisting of two newer Arm Cortex-A715 cores and two older Cortex-A710 cores.
The phone comes with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.
The smartphone is equipped with a 3400 sq. mm. vapor chamber that is designed to regulate the temperature of the processor and the entire device.
Camera
Xiaomi 13 Pro has a triple camera setup jointly developed with German camera company Leica. The setup includes primary, telephoto, and ultrawide cameras, all 50MP.
The primary camera has a large 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX98 sensor with OIS and a 23mm ƒ/1.9 Leica lens. The 50MP telephoto camera has a 75mm equivalent focal length (3x zoom), ƒ/2.0 aperture, and OIS.
Xiaomi is promoting its telephoto lens as a “floating lens” because it consists of two separate units that can be internally adjusted to enable both telephoto and macro photography.
It has a focal range of just 10cm, enabling you to take close-up shots with the telephoto lens for amazing natural bokeh.
The ultrawide camera has a 50MP camera sensor with a 14mm (115˚) equivalent focal length, ƒ/2.2 aperture, and autofocus support. It can also be used to shoot macro shots as close as 5cm.
The Leica partnership gives the device two different image profiles — the “Leica Authentic Look” and the “Leica Vibrant Look” — and Leica filters.
Additionally, the professional mode of the camera app allows manual adjustment of shooting parameters and supports the shooting of photos in 10-bit raw formats.
The main camera is capable of shooting video up to 8K at 24fps and 4K at 60fps. The 32MP front camera sadly can only record up to 1080p video at 30fps.
Battery and OS
The device packs a 4820mAh single-cell battery. The phone supports 120W Xiaomi HyperCharge fast charging technology and 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi claims the Xiaomi 13 Pro can be charged to full in 19 minutes with the supported charger.
Out of the box, Xiaomi 13 series boots on Android 13 topped with MIUI 14.
