Vivo Y29 4G Overview
Design
The Vivo Y29 sticks closely to the flat, boxy aesthetic of its predecessor, the Y28, with almost identical dimensions. However, it does bring subtle design changes with a new rectangular camera module, replacing the square one from last year. The camera island is accentuated by a diamond-patterned metallic trim.
You still get a dual-camera setup along with Vivo’s signature Dynamic Light feature, which now appears slightly larger. This light isn’t just for show—it serves practical functions like alerting users to incoming calls and notifications.
The Vivo Y29 features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, volume buttons, and a SIM tray. It also packs dual speakers—one at the bottom and one at the top—with Vivo claiming up to 400% louder volume for a more immersive audio experience.
Just like last year, the Y29 is rated IP64 and MIL-STD-810H, rounding out its durability credentials.

Display
The Vivo Y29 features an LCD panel with a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The biggest upgrade over last year’s model is the 120Hz refresh rate—a welcome addition in the budget segment, offering smoother scrolling and animations.
Other display specs remain unchanged as it still sports a 6.68-inch screen with HD+ (1680 x 720) resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 264ppi. As a result, images may lack sharpness. Brightness also stays the same, peaking at 1000 nits under High Brightness Mode (HBM).
The phone also has a TÜV Rheinland Eye Protection certification.
Hardware
The Vivo Y29 gets a performance boost this year with the Snapdragon 685 (6nm), paired with Adreno 610 for graphics. This is a noticeable upgrade from the entry-level Helio G85 (12nm) used in last year’s Y28
This is the same chipset found in well-received phones like the Redmi 13 and Honor X7c, so users can expect comparable real-world performance. However, it’s worth noting that the Snapdragon 685 only supports 4G.
While that’s not a big issue in Nepal where 5G is still unavailable, it’s something to keep in mind, especially since a few phones in this segment have already started including 5G.
In terms of memory and storage, the Y29 offers multiple configurations: 8GB RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. A 6GB + 128GB variant is also expected, likely reserved for a slightly lower-priced model from Vivo.
There’s a microSD card slot with support for up to 2TB of additional storage, though you’ll have to sacrifice the second SIM slot due to the hybrid tray design.
Camera and AI
The Vivo Y29 4G packs a 50MP main camera and a 2MP bokeh lens, but it lacks an ultra-wide or macro lens—something many users might miss at this price point.
Up front, there’s an 8MP selfie shooter. While both cameras support video recording, Vivo hasn’t specified if it’s 720p or 1080p.
On the software side, the phone includes AI-powered features like AI Eraser, AI Photo Enhance, and Circle-to-Search.
Battery and OS
Powering the smartphone is a massive 6,500mAh Li-ion battery, impressive for a phone just over 8mm thick, and likely the biggest in its price segment. Plus, the 44W Flash Charge gives the Vivo Y29 a serious edge over the competition.
Besides this, Vivo also claims that the battery retains 80% of its capacity and boasts a 5-year durability.
Interestingly, the 5G variant of the Vivo Y29 only gets a 5,500mAh battery. Talking about OS, the Y29 4G runs on Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15 skin applied on top.
Vivo Y29 4G Price in Nepal and Availability
The Vivo Y29 4G price in Nepal could be Rs. 22,999 (6/128GB), Rs. 24,999 (8/128GB), and Rs. 27,499 (8/256GB). The phone was globally released in February 2025. And now, it’s making its way into Nepal soon.
Vivo Y29 4G | Price in Nepal [Expected] |
---|---|
6/128GB | Rs. 22,999 |
8/128GB | Rs. 24,999 |
8/256GB | Rs. 27,499 |
The Vivo Y29 stands out with its massive 6,500mAh battery, 44W fast charging, and a smooth 120Hz display. The upgrade to a Snapdragon 685 chip from last year’s Helio G85 is also a solid upgrade.
That said, the lack of 5G and missing ultra-wide or macro lenses holds it back, making rival phones in the same range a bit more tempting.
