Tecno Spark 40 Pro Launched in Nepal: A Familiar Face in the Android Crowd

 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Tecno Spark 40 Pro price in Nepal is Rs. 31,799  for the 8/256GB variant.
  • The phone runs on MediaTek Dimensity G100.
  • The Tecno Spark 40 Pro is powered by a 5,200mAh battery that’s paired with a 45W fast charging.

In mid-2025, Tecno expanded the Spark 40 lineup with four new smartphones. Out of those, two have recently launched in Nepal, and one of them is the Tecno Spark 40 Pro.

Sitting one step above the regular Spark 40, upgrades are naturally expected. However, judging by the spec sheet alone, the Spark 40 Pro feels far more than just a slightly bigger sibling; it’s a noticeably more capable phone overall.

If you’ve seen the Tecno Spark 40, you might’ve noticed that it resembles the latest iPhone, something I already pointed out in my Spark 40 article. But its bigger sibling, the Spark 40 Pro, takes inspiration from a different big player in the Android world.

It almost feels like Tecno’s design team is trying to copy the homework without making it obvious. But that’s just me

With that out of the way, let’s jump straight into the overview.

Tecno Spark 40 Pro Overview

At first glance, the Tecno Spark 40 Pro heavily resembles Samsung’s flagship phones, thanks to its triple camera-style layout. And that’s not surprising, considering the regular Spark 40 already took heavy inspiration from the latest iPhones.

The phone is also impressively thin and light, measuring just 6.69mm in thickness and weighing 170 grams. What’s even more impressive is that Tecno has managed to achieve this while still offering 1.5m drop resistance and an IP64 dust and water resistance rating.

Adding to the durability, the display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. And speaking of the display, the specs look almost flawless on paper. You get a 6.78-inch flexible AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Now, it’s not like this level of display is completely unheard of in this price segment, but it’s definitely a nice-to-have.

Unfortunately, the phone fumbles a bit when it comes to performance. The Helio G100 SoC makes a return here, and that’s where the disappointment kicks in; it’s the same chip Tecno used last year on the Spark 30 Pro. What’s more surprising is that this chipset is also found in phones like the Infinix Hot 50 Pro and Pro+. Even though it’s a 4G-only chip, it’s still one of the better-performing ones in its class. Sadly, I can’t say the same about the camera setup.

You might notice what looks like a triple camera system on the back, but here’s the reality check: it’s just a single 50MP main sensor, paired with a 13MP selfie camera on the front.

While the camera takes a step back, Tecno does make things better in the battery department. The 5,200mAh battery is decent on its own, but the real highlight here is the 45W fast charging.

On the software side, the Spark 40 Pro runs Android 15 with HIOS 15 on top. Tecno has also packed in a bunch of AI features like AI Eraser, Image Extender, AI Sharpener, and even Circle to Search.

To sum it up, it looks like Tecno is taking notes from Infinix, and I’m particularly referring to how closely the Spark 40 Pro+ resembles the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+, and honestly, that’s not a bad thing.

The Tecno Spark 40 Pro is a solid phone despite sticking with a 4G chipset. The display is excellent, and when you compare it to last year’s model, the upgrades are genuinely impressive. That said, there’s one small issue that doesn’t quite sit right with me, and that’s the pricing.

Even after a price hike, the Infinix Hot 60 Pro still sits comfortably below the Rs. 25,000 mark, while the Tecno Spark 40 Pro costs north of Rs. 30,000. For a phone with such similar specs, Tecno could, and should, do better on pricing.
