The Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) informed the taxi operators not to operate their vehicles without installing the computer billing system properly. NBSM recently penalized 200 cabs operating without the computer billing system.
What they are saying:
- According to Bishwobabu Pudasaini, director general of NBSM, NBSM has been carrying out a special inspection of taxis by partnering with the traffic police and penalizing those operators who don’t have computerized billing system. He also said that within the next few months, all taxis will have digital billing system.
- According to government statistics, among the 10,600 cabs registered around 2,000 don’t have proper billing system.
- NBSM has also found that the cabs are not providing fare receipts to commuters, and they and the traffic have urged the commuters to report such issues to the traffic.
