Sony a6400 is an APS-C format mirrorless camera from the camera giant Sony. While DSLRs are more popular with professionals, if you are in need of a camera just for some family photography, Mirrorless camera are good deals.
First of all, they aren’t as bulky as DSLRs. Second, they can take photos at a higher rate, and third, they are better at Videos than DSLRs. It is said that DSLR reign supreme when taking pictures of fast-moving subjects and in low light conditions. However, the difference is not that significant. Among the mirrorless cameras on the market, Sony a6400 is the up there in the highest echelon. The camera is available only in basic black and includes an in-body pop-up flash, an EVF, and a hot shoe. Finding all three is a rarity in a mirrorless camera. Sony says that a6400 is only protected from the elements but it is “not guaranteed to be 100 percent dust and moisture proof.” So, don’t take it out in the pouring rain; a bit of a drizzle probably won’t harm your camera.
Sony A6400 Specs Overview
A6400 has a 3-inch LCD touch screen. The hinge has been redesigned. The screen doesn’t just tilt up or down, as with other models in the a6000 family, but also flips forward for selfies and vlogging. The screen is sharp and has a 16:9 aspect ratio. The a6400 includes wireless connectivity. It supports Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi. You can pair your phone, iOS or Android, to the camera with Sony PlayMemories App which makes transferring photos and videos much smoother and easier.
Sony touts better autofocus capabilities with this model. They claim that the a6400 has the world’s fastest focus acquisition (you photographers may know what this means). The a6400 uses a 24MP APS-C image sensor. It can be set as low as ISO 100 and as high as ISO 32000 in its native mode, and offers expanded ISO up to 102400 for poor lighting conditions.
This camera also has a new real-time Eye AF feature which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect people. Sony says that a future update coming in “summer 2019” will enable Eye AF for animals too. The a6400 also has a new real-time tracking feature which uses AI for object recognition.
Sony A6400 Avaibility and Price in Nepal
Nepal Hima Trade Link is the official distributor of these cameras (or any Sony products). Currently, they have listed a6400 up for prebooking. To pre-book this camera, you’ll have to pay 25% of the total cost of the camera up front. You can expect the camera to come to your doorsteps after 10 days.
There are 3 different models available. One is the body-only model that will set you back Rs. 138000. The other is the body + 16-50 mm lens that is priced at Rs. 150,000. And the last model is the body + 18-135 mm lens worth Rs. 195,000.
