The last time Samsung launched a smartwatch in Nepal was near the end of last year with its “FE” model. Being an FE variant meant it was a trimmed-down version without access to the full suite of features.
But this time, the company has launched a proper flagship smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, which is now available in Nepal.
What is the Price of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 in Nepal?
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 price in Nepal is Rs. 54,999 for the 40mm variant, while the larger 44mm option adds Rs. 5,000 to the price tag. Both sizes of the watch are available to purchase at all Samsung authorised stores across Nepal.
The latest Samsung smartwatch sees an increase of Rs. 10,000 over the Galaxy Watch7, which is quite a steep hike. While this price bump stings a bit, it wasn’t entirely unexpected!
The Galaxy Watch8 saw a 50-dollar increase in its price tag internationally, which translates to about Rs. 7,000. So, we are still more or less in line with the global trend.
Furthermore, the new watch brings updates to the design, hardware, and even adds a handful of new features. That, again, kind of justifies why the price went up. So, let’s take a look at what the latest edition of Galaxy Watch — unveiled to the world alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 — brings to the table wrist:

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Overview
Design and Hardware
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 comes with an updated design, something the company is calling a “cushion” shape. How do you go about and achieve this? You take the same circular AMOLED display you had always been using, and slap it on top of a squircle Armor Aluminium chassis.
This gives the Watch 8 a kind of asymmetrical, but undeniably unique look. Furthermore, it is quite a bit slimmer with a lesser protruding sensor module. As such, it likely won’t feel as if the watch is trying to carve a tunnel into your wrist after wearing it for extended periods of time.
The hardware changes this time include a display that goes 50% brighter than last year, reaching up to 3,000 nits. A chunkier battery at 435mAh or 325mAh (depending on the chassis size you choose), up from 425mAh or 300mAh.
So, the Galaxy Watch 8 is slimmer, yet it packs a larger battery. That’s Samsung’s whole trick this year! Decrease the device’s thickness, but the battery goes up, or remains the same at the very least.
In the meantime, the watch’s chipset, memory, and storage remain unchanged with 3nm pentacore Exynos W1000, 2GB and 32GB, respectively. In terms of colour, it ships in Silver (White), and Graphite (Black). However, the market availability may vary.
Connectivity and Software
The connectivity side of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 does not seem to have seen much change. It still ships with Bluetooth v5.3, WiFi 5, NFC, and four-way satellite navigation — GPS (L1+L5), GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou.
The rest of the things I listed don’t bother me, but Bluetooth 5.3 on a 2025 flagship smartwatch feels a bit — erm, for lack of a better word — old, especially when a newer 5.4 version has already made it to the market, which again has been succeeded by an even newer v6.0.
Then again, if Samsung finds it reliable enough, then who am I to judge? After all, reliability matters more than whatever is new on the block.
Software-wise, it’s Wear OS 6 with Samsung’s One UI 8 on top. You get the “Now Bar” here. That at-a-glance pill the company introduced earlier this year with the S-series device.
Good stuff, but I just wish connecting a Samsung smartwatch with other Android devices did not feel like I am on a hack-a-thon or whatever.

AI, of course
These days, everything’s gotta have AI, and sure enough, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 does too. Thankfully, it’s not just a bunch of fluff. This watch comes with Google Gemini built in, making it the first smartwatch in the world to do so.
Early testers are saying it’s a bit slow. Maybe because it still needs to route through your phone, or because the watch’s hardware is a bit limiting to run such AI models. But it is cool that a device strapped to your wrist can do AI!
Local brands like Ultima, with much less capital, launched a watch with ChatGPT integration last year. So, the whole built-in Gemini doesn’t exactly blow my mind. But again, Samsung’s Gemini integration will be much more polished and reliable, so it is something to look forward to.
Health Tracking… a lot of it
Now this one kind of blows my mind, because there is so much of it. These features don’t feel like slapped for the sake of it. They feel curated, it’s like careful thought has been put into them.
Firstly, there is this “Bedtime Guidance”, which looks at the past three days of sleep data to suggest an optimal bedtime for you. I find this one especially intriguing because, honestly, my sleep schedule is a bit poo-poo. On top of that, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is FDA-authorised to detect risks of sleep apnea.
As cool as these are, they were already present in the Galaxy Watch 7. So, let’s just move on with the newly introduced features: Vascular Load, Running Coach, and Antioxidant Index.
The first one takes data from your sleep, diet, activity, and stress levels to analyse your blood system health and vascular load, then offers helpful recommendations.
“Running Coach” makes you run for a while to analyse what you run like, figures out your current running level (ranked 1 to 10), then builds a plan so that you can run level up “without overstraining or underperforming”. Sounds exactly like what an actual coach would do.
Then there’s the “Antioxidant Index” — a first time that a watch has such a feature apparently! It’s a bit unconventional to use: you unfasten your watch, flip it over, and place your thumb on the sensor hub. It then measures your carotenoid levels in your skin to see how your diet may be affecting your health. Wild!
There are even more health features like ECG measurements, mood detection, cycle tracking, and all those usual suspects. But since we have seen them before, I am skipping over them. We would need a whole separate article if we went through every feature in detail.
