Naturally, being the “Lite” version, some compromises were expected. But with this tablet, it feels like Samsung might have trimmed a little too aggressively.

The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite marks the fifth entry in Samsung’s S10 series, positioned as a budget-friendly alternative to its pricier siblings like the S10+ and S10 Ultra, which unfortunately has not made its official debut in Nepal, yet.

But here’s the catch: the specs don’t quite justify the price tag. Why is that? Let’s break down the hardware and see where Samsung hit the mark, and where it fell short.

Starting with the specs.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite Overview

Design

Having used tablets and pads for most of my life, it’s a little disappointing to see how little innovation has gone into their design. Almost every tablet still follows the same formula: flat sides, flat back, and not much else. The new Samsung S10 Lite is no exception.

Its aluminum body feels nice to the touch, but that’s hardly new; we’ve seen this across multiple generations of tablets. What’s not so nice is its IP42 rating. This only protects the device from solid objects larger than 1mm and light water drips. In other words, it’s not very durable against dust or splashes, so you’ll want to be careful where you use it.

In terms of size, the S10 Lite is practically identical to the Galaxy Tab S10 FE launched a few months ago. The only real difference is that this one is about 10% thicker.

Around the back, there’s a single camera placed at the top-left corner, with no LED flash to support it. All the physical buttons sit on the right-hand side of the frame. Unfortunately, Samsung has skipped a fingerprint scanner entirely. And for a tablet at this price, it seems like a major disadvantage.

Display

The display doesn’t do much to impress either. Samsung’s choice to use a TFT panel on a mid-range tablet is honestly baffling. Compared to IPS, TFT panels suffer from weaker viewing angles and a narrower color range, which takes away from the overall experience.

At 10.9 inches with a resolution of 2112 × 1320 pixels, the screen is serviceable, but nothing special. The tablet does support a 90Hz refresh rate, which sounds decent on paper. But at this price point, 90Hz feels underwhelming when competitors are already pushing smoother 120Hz displays.

Brightness tops out at just 600 nits. That’s fine for indoor use, but once you step outside, it becomes a struggle. In direct sunlight, you’ll likely find yourself squinting just to make out what’s on the screen.

Hardware

Things don’t look particularly promising on the hardware front either. The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite runs on Samsung’s Exynos 1380 chipset, built on a 5nm process, the same silicon found on the Galaxy A35. While it’s a capable chip for casual tasks, its value for money just doesn’t hold up in today’s market.

For instance, Xiaomi’s Pad 7 packs the far superior Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 at an even lower price, making the Exynos 1380 feel like a compromise.

The base configuration doesn’t help much either. You only get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which feels a bit tight. On the plus side, Samsung has included a hybrid microSD card slot that supports expansion up to 2TB.

One definite win here is the S Pen, which comes bundled in the box.

Powering it all is an 8,000mAh Li-Po battery with support for 25W fast charging over USB-C. It’s the same tried-and-tested setup as the previous generation, so endurance should be solid, even if charging speeds aren’t class-leading.

Camera and OS

On the camera side, the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite keeps things basic. The rear houses an 8MP lens, while the front gets a 5MP shooter. These aren’t exactly impressive numbers, but to be fair, tablets are rarely bought for photography. They’ll get the job done for casual snaps, scanning documents, or quick video calls.

Both cameras can record 1080p video at 30fps, which should be fine for online meetings or virtual classes.

Shifting to software, the S10 Lite ships with One UI 7 on top of Android 15. Samsung has officially promised an impressive 7 years of security updates. However, the company hasn’t yet confirmed how many major Android version upgrades the tablet will receive.

Based on recent patterns, we can reasonably expect 6 or 7 OS upgrades, but until Samsung makes it official, that’s still speculation.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite Price in Nepal and Availability

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite price in Nepal is Rs. 51,999 (6/128GB). It is available for purchase at Samsung-authorized stores nationwide.

Let’s face it, Samsung’s midrange smartphones have been on shaky ground lately, and sadly, the tablet side seems to be heading the same way with the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite.

Between the underwhelming Exynos 1380 processor, a lackluster TFT display, and just 6GB of RAM, it’s hard to see how this tablet justifies its hefty price tag of over Rs. 50,000. The weak camera setup doesn’t help either, though to be fair, cameras aren’t usually a dealbreaker on tablets.

At this price, the Xiaomi Pad 7 delivers far better value with a more powerful processor, a superior display, and excellent battery performance. Against such competition, the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite ends up being a tough recommendation.
