Samsung Galaxy S25+ Overview
Galaxy AI
The key highlight of the Samsung phones this year is the refinements on the Galaxy AI. It now understands on-device context and human language better. As a result, you can now search “My eyes hurt” to find the “Eye comfort” setting. Likewise, you can describe a photo to locate it instantly.
Samsung and Google have partnered to let Bixby and Gemini work together, even letting them perform tasks across third-party apps. The on-device AI also curates relevant information in the “Now Brief” section, accessible via the Dynamic Island-like “Now Bar”.
Circle to Search now recognises audio playing on the phone and detects phone numbers, emails, and URLs for instant actions. Additional AI tools include Call Transcript and Summarisation, Writing Assist, and Drawing Assist (formerly Sketch to Image).
Design and Build
While the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra sees some updates compared to last year, the same cannot be said for the Plus and the base models. This phone looks practically the same as the year before — apart from the more pronounced camera rings this time.
The Samsung Galaxy S25+ sees some changes in the dimensions, where its length and width have some minor tweaks. In the meantime, its thickness and weight have a more noticeable drop.
The phone uses Armor Aluminium 2 for its frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for its front and back panels. It also boasts an IP68 water and dust resistance.
Display
The display on the Samsung Galaxy S25+ is the same as that of S24+. As such, it is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution and 1 to 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness on this thing is the same as well at 2,600 nits.
While the display hardware is the same on the Galaxy S25+, Samsung brings an upgrade through the software front.
This phone gets the newly introduced ProScaler feature, which uses AI to upscale the picture quality. As such, the HD or FHD content you are viewing might give the impression that it is of QHD resolution.
Hardware
Powering the Samsung Galaxy S25+ is the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy! Yes, Samsung has swept its in-house Exynos chip under the rug this time!
It looks like the massive performance boost Qualcomm silicon brought seems to be too sweet for the makers of Galaxy to ignore. After all, we are looking at up to 45%, 48%, and 68% improvement in CPU, GPU, and NPU performance respectively.
The phone pairs 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage. However, the Nepali audiences only get the lower 12/256GB option.
Camera
Moving on to the cameras, there are again no changes in the hardware. As such, the Samsung Galaxy S25+ comes with a 50MP main, a 10MP (3x) telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide sensors. The selfie camera also remains the same at 12MP.
The phone does receive some feature updates. For instance, it can now record 10-bit HDR and Log videos with Zebra Pattern and False Colour features built into the phone.
You also get features like the “Best Face” and “Audio Eraser“, which lets you get rid of imperfections. One for photos, where it lets you swap faces to fix issues like blinking eyes. Meanwhile, the other allows you to reduce background noises from videos.
Battery and OS
Samsung has shipped the Galaxy S25+ with the same battery and charging capacity as last year. So, we are looking at a 4,900mAh cell and 45W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
Samsung claims that despite unchanged hardware, battery life has improved due to optimisations it has put in place.
The Samsung Galaxy S25+ boots on Android 15 with OneUI 7 on top, and supports seven years of security updates and OS upgrades.
