On 19th January 2024, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 series with the new “Galaxy AI” in Nepal after its global release on 17th January 2024.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus price in Nepal is Rs. 1,42,999 (12/256GB) in Nepal. The phone is now available on online platforms and authorized retail stores across the country.

The series comprises three phones, with the S24 and S24 Plus sharing identical hardware except for size differences. In contrast, the mightier S24 Ultra has an even bigger screen, a new titanium frame, a 5x telephoto camera, and a stylus.

Nevertheless, the standout feature of this year’s S-series phones lies not in hardware but in software. With the Galaxy AI, Samsung has integrated AI features into nearly every aspect of the S24 lineup.

Fortunately, the Galaxy AI experience is not exclusive to the high-end Galaxy S24 Ultra; it is consistent across the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus as well. Samsung has also said that it will come with additional Galaxy devices. However, depending on the chipset, there is a possibility that the performance may not be the same.

Anyways, there is a separate article detailing the upgrades and changes to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Our focus in this article will be on the middle child of the series — the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus Overview

Galaxy AI

Starting with the most interesting new features of the lineup, the Galaxy S24 lineup is packed with Galaxy AI. Samsung partnered with Google to use Google’s Gemini foundational models to power the Galaxy AI. Some of the notable new features of the Galaxy AI are:

• Circle to Search: With a long press on the home button, users can circle, highlight, scribble on, or tap anything on the Galaxy S24’s screen to see helpful, high-quality search results.
• Live Translate: It is a two-way, real-time voice and text translation of phone calls within the native app. No third-party apps are required.
• Interpreter: With Interpreter, live conversations can be instantly translated on a split-screen view, so people standing opposite each other can read a text transcription of what the other person has said. It works without cellular data or Wi-Fi.
• Chat Assist: For messages and other apps, Chat Assist can help perfect conversational tones to ensure communication sounds as it was intended. AI built into Samsung Keyboard can also translate messages in real-time in 13 languages.
• Note Assist: The Note Assist in Samsung Notes is an AI summarizer that summarizes the text and also formats your notes into a clear, easy-to-review summary.
• Generative Edit: The generative edit is an image editor function that allows relocating objects and generative AI to fill up the space created.

Design

On the design end, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus sticks to the usual flat glass-sandwich design with aluminum framing rounded at the corners. However, the S24 now has a flat frame with a matte finish as opposed to the S23’s shiny, rounded one. The phone is also ever-so-slightly taller than before.

The back has the familiar three-camera setup, and it’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, just like the S23. Plus, it still has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Display

The Galaxy S24 receives a notable display upgrade — it’s now larger by 0.1 inches, brighter, sharper, and more efficient.

The Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen has grown to 6.7 inches with a Quad HD+ (1440p) resolution, featuring a peak brightness of 2600 nits. The panel is now LTPO technology-enabled, allowing the refresh rate to dynamically adjust from 120Hz to as low as 1Hz, matching the Ultra device.

However, unlike the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the S24 Plus did not get the new Corning Gorilla Armor but rather the Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Hardware

Samsung makes the Galaxy S24 Plus in two versions. One has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, and the other uses the Exynos 2400. But only the US, China, and South Korea get the Snapdragon one, while the rest of the world, including Nepal, gets the Exynos model.

Interestingly, the 4nm Exynos 2400 has 10 cores, comprising a prime Cortex-X4 core at 3.2GHz, two big Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.90GHz, three mid Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.6GHz, and four small Cortex-A520 cores at 2.0GHz.

The SoC has an Xclipse 940 GPU, which is based on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture.

When it comes to storage, you will get 256GB storage paired with 12GB RAM, up from the previous 8GB.

Camera

The cameras on this phone appear unchanged from the predecessor S23 Plus. The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The main and telephoto lenses have OIS, while the telephoto lens has 3x optical zoom capability.

In the video recording department, the Galaxy S24+ can record 8K videos at 24/30fps and 4K videos at 120fps with stereo sound recording. The front of the phone carries a 12MP selfie camera that shoots videos in 4K at up to 60fps.

One new feature is Samsung’s “ProVisual Engine,” which in Samsung’s words, is a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools that transforms image-capturing abilities and maximizes creative freedom every step of the way, from setting up a shot all the way to sharing it on a social platform.

Battery and OS

The S24 Plus has a larger 4900mAh battery. Additionally, it supports 45W fast charging support, which is faster than the 25W support of the vanilla S24. The wireless charging and reverse wireless charging remain the same at 15W and 4.5W, respectively.

The phone ships with the latest Android 14 with Samsung’s OneUI 6.1 out-of-the-box. In addition, Samsung has promised software support of seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, which is impressive.

“Galaxy AI” is the biggest improvement on all the Galaxy S24 phones. The AI model brings live translation, text and document summarization, email and other text generation, and image editing and generation.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus is the middle child in the S24 lineup. The S24 Plus is similar to the S23 Plus; the only major hardware changes are the new chipset, bigger battery, larger and brighter display, and a flat-frame design.
