Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Overview
Design and Build
It’s clear that Samsung is aiming to win the race against Apple in creating the slimmest and lightest flagship— looking at you, iPhone 17 Air.
The S25 Edge comes in at just 5.8mm thick and weighs only 163g—a remarkable feat considering the powerhouse processor inside. However, achieving this slim profile comes with compromises. The phone may heat more than usual or even throttle under heavy load.
A notable design shift is the updated camera module, now featuring a subtle, pill-shaped elevation housing only two lenses—a step back in capability.
Due to the thinner frame, the volume rocker and power button are also slightly slimmer than those on the other S25 models.
Despite its slimness, the S25 Edge doesn’t skimp on durability. It uses a titanium frame like the S25 Ultra and features Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front. On the back, it’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and comes with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Display
The display on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is the same as that of the S25+. It features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a QHD+ (1440 x 3120 pixels) resolution and a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz.
The S25 Edge gets the newly introduced ProScaler feature, which uses AI to upscale content quality. This means HD or FHD videos can appear closer to QHD resolution, enhancing the viewing experience significantly.
Unfortunately, the S25 Edge does not get the reflective surface coating that we saw on the S25 Ultra, so that’s a bummer.
Hardware
Like the other S25 models, the Samsung S25 Edge is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It’s a highly energy-efficient chip, though it does tend to run a bit hot. Despite the compact form factor, Samsung has managed to include a small vapor chamber to keep thermals in check. But, we cannot be certain of how effective it is.
The 8 Elite is a powerhouse SoC, so you can expect performance on par with the rest of the S25 lineup. And finally, it pairs 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage.
Camera
The camera department is where we see most of the compromises. There is the same 200MP main camera featured on the S25 Ultra. This makes Edge the only other phone in the S25 lineup to have a 200MP camera. Below that is a 12MP ultra-wide—and that’s about it.
Unsurprisingly, the compact form factor leaves no room for a telephoto lens—a feature that would’ve been a welcome addition, even if it meant making the phone slightly thicker.
On the front, you will see a 12MP selfie shooter. Moving to the software side, features like “Best Face” and “Audio Eraser” add some flair. Best Face lets you swap faces in group photos to fix issues like blinking eyes, while Audio Eraser reduces background noise in videos for a cleaner audio experience.
Galaxy AI
Galaxy AI has been a key highlight of Samsung’s S-series for a couple of years now, and the S25 lineup brings even more intuitive changes. It looks like all those AI features are making their way to the S25 Edge as well.
To start, Galaxy AI now understands on-device context and natural language, allowing you to find settings or photos just by describing them. Thanks to a partnership between Google and Samsung, Gemini and Bixby can now work together seamlessly.
On-device AI also powers the new “Now Brief” section, which curates relevant information and is easily accessible via the Now Bar.
Fan-favorite “Circle to Search” gets an upgrade too—it can now recognize audio playing on the device, as well as detect phone numbers, emails, and URLs for instant actions. Other AI tools include Call Transcript and Summarization, Drawing Assist, and Writing Assist.
Battery and OS
The slim form factor of the S25 Edge comes at a cost—just a 3,900mAh battery with 25W wired charging. For me, this is a weird choice, seeing even the Z-Flip 6, a folding phone, has a 4,000mAh battery. On the bright side, it does retain 15W wireless charging.
Samsung went with a Silicon Ion battery instead of a Silicon Carbon one, which would’ve made more sense.
A few years ago, a 3,900mAh battery might’ve been acceptable. But in 2025, when even budget phones are flexing 6,000—or in some cases, 6,600mAh—Samsung’s choice feels outdated. Even their own budget, M15 packs a 6,000mAh cell. With that in mind, the S25 Edge’s 3,900mAh battery feels like Samsung brought a knife to a gunfight.
Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge gets an Android 15 with OneUI 7 on top and supports seven years of security updates and OS upgrades.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Price in Nepal and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge price in Nepal could be Rs. 1,50,999 for the 12/256GB variant and Rs. 1,60,999 for the 12/512GB variant.
The phone has just made its global debut, and while there’s no official word on its Nepal launch yet, if past S25 series release timelines are anything to go by, we could see it arrive as early as the beginning of June, which might coincide with Samsung’s new Z-Flip and Z-Fold series phones
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge | Price in Nepal [Expected] |
---|---|
12/256GB | Rs. 1,50,999 |
12/512GB | Rs. 1,60,999 |
Price-wise, the S25 Edge sits just below the S25 Ultra—but with a trimmed-down camera and battery specs for the sake of thinness, it feels like it belongs at the bottom of the S25 lineup. That said, if you’re willing to trade some features for a razor-thin design, the S25 Edge could still be the one for you.
