HIGHLIGHTS
- The Samsung Galaxy M36 price in Nepal is Rs. 36,999 (8/128GB) and Rs. 41,999 (8/256GB).
- It has the in-house Exynos 1380 chipset under its helm.
- The phone does not bring any upgrades over the Galaxy M35.
Recently, Samsung’s A and M series were getting convoluted into one messy goop. The M-series was supposed to be the A-series with some compromises, which is why they were cheaper too.
But here’s the thing: the two phones became so similar that M-series phones appeared to be a better deal than their A-series counterparts.
For instance, the Galaxy A16 and Galaxy M16 are practically the same. However, M16 was cheaper while sporting a fresher design and booting on a newer OS.
In the meantime, between Galaxy A35 and M35, the A-series offering looked cooler and had an in-display fingerprint. However, that wasn’t a concrete value to entice buyers who could pay less for the M35, get an extra 1,000mAh battery, and put a case on their phone and move on with their lives.
You see the issue here? I guess Samsung did too. Which is why they made the Samsung Galaxy M36 different, and it’s… interesting to say the least.
What is the Price of the Samsung Galaxy M36 in Nepal?
The Samsung Galaxy M36 price in Nepal is Rs. 36,999 for the 8/128GB variant and Rs. 41,999 for the 8/256GB variant. The phone is now available for purchase across Samsung retail stores in Nepal.
Based on its pricing in India, we expected the 8/256GB variant to land at around Rs. 44,999. So, seeing it launch for slightly less is a welcome move and a good start for the phone.

Samsung Galaxy M36 Overview
Design
Samsung recently updated its design language, going from independent camera cutouts to a pill-shaped camera island. This phone also has a camera island; however, the lenses have been divided into a longer ovular and a single circular section within it. This is the same aesthetic we saw with the Galaxy M16 as well.
Hence, it appears Samsung is trying to differentiate its M and A series offerings visually. While the M-series will get the camera appearance that I defined earlier, the A-series will have a continuous finish with no such separation within the camera island.
The rest of the frame and body all look standard and are made of plastic. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor — again, usual business for the M-series phones.
Display
On the front, there is a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. Also, the display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. There isn’t much to say about Samsung’s display, as they tend not to throw numbers around and let the quality do the talking.
But, and it’s a big but, Samsung is shipping the Galaxy M36 with a waterdrop cutout. It is a bold decision considering that M35 had a hole punch! For this boldness, I would just like to quote PewDiePie and nothing else — “It is evolving. Just backwards.”
Exynos 1380?
Under the hood, Samsung has packed the Exynos 1380 chipset. It is the same silicon that powered the Galaxy M35. Now, I don’t mind companies reusing the same chip — they do that all the time.
But here is what I found unusual. A-series and M-series phones have always been counterparts, and the same numbered offerings share the same processor. And the Galaxy A36 had the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3.
So, why did they opt with Exynos 1380 for the M36? This is concerning because it puts the M36 on the same footing as the Galaxy A26, instead of the A36. Is Samsung demoting the M-series phones, so that it will be a counterpart to a lower-tier A-series phone?
Also, what happened to the Exynos 1480? Weren’t we supposed to receive it in the A36, and by extension, in the M36?
Other Hardware
Last year, only the 8/256GB variant made its way in Nepal, but this time, we’re also getting the 8/128GB options as well.
In the tank, we are getting a 5,000mAh battery; another gripe. M-series phones have traditionally rocked massive batteries, even going up to 7,000mAh at times. The previous entry itself had a 6,000mAh unit. So, putting a 5,000mAh battery on the M36 feels a bit counterintuitive from Samsung, especially when the industry is moving past that mark with newer battery tech.
Meanwhile, we get a charging speed of 25W to juice the battery. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
Camera and OS
In terms of cameras, we are getting a 50MP main snapper coupled with an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro shooter. Likewise, a 13MP sensor takes the centre stage for the selfies.
Software-wise, the Galaxy M36 will boot on OneUI 7, Samsung’s take on Android 15. And as expected of Samsung, the phone gets a massive 6 years of security upgrades and 6 generations of Android upgrades.
Samsung Galaxy M36 Price in Nepal and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy M36 price in Nepal is Rs. 36,999 (8/128GB) and Rs. 41,999 (8/256GB). The phone is now available for purchase at Samsung retail stores across Nepal.
Samsung Galaxy M36 | Price in Nepal |
---|---|
8/128GB | Rs. 36,999 |
8/256GB | Rs. 41,999 |
Samsung Galaxy M36 is now pretty much the same as the Galaxy A26, minus the in-display fingerprint sensor. This marks a detour from Samsung’s usual route of aligning the same-numbered offerings of the A and M series.
This begs the question: Is this change worth it? Doesn’t feel like it. However, since Samsung decided to slash the price by a few notches, it softens the blow a bit and makes the M36 a slightly more appealing deal.
