Samsung has recently expanded its M-series lineup with the new Galaxy M17, and the phone is now gearing up for its debut in the Nepali market.

Last year’s Galaxy M16 stirred quite a reaction when Samsung decided to ditch the massive 6,000mAh battery, shifting focus instead to a refreshed design. This time around, we’re hoping the company hasn’t trimmed too many corners and that the M17 brings a few meaningful upgrades to make up for it.
What is the price of the Samsung Galaxy M17 in Nepal?
The Samsung Galaxy M17 price in Nepal is expected to be around Rs. 25,999 (4/128GB) and Rs. 27,999 (6/128GB). The Galaxy M17 hasn’t officially launched in Nepal just yet. However, according to Samsung officials, the phone is expected to arrive by the end of this week.
Looking at past trends, Samsung usually adds something interesting to its budget line of M-series refresh each year. The Galaxy M15 stood out for its massive battery, while the M16 brought a distinct camera design that set it apart from the rest of Samsung’s lineup.
But this year, things seem a little different. The Galaxy M17 feels like a more conventional smartphone, but I am happy to be proven wrong.
Now, the big question: does the M17 bring anything exciting to the table this time? Let’s find out.
Samsung Galaxy M17 Overview
The Galaxy M17 is a tad slimmer this time, measuring just 7.5mm thick, making it 0.4mm thinner than last year’s M16. But what’s more interesting is how Samsung has reimagined the M-series design. The M17 now shares its entire look with its A-series twin, the Galaxy A17, right down to the matching bordered accent around the camera module that blends perfectly with the phone’s color.

The display, too, remains familiar. It’s the same 6.7-inch FHD+ (1080 × 2340 pixels) Super AMOLED panel seen on both the A17 and last year’s M16. However, Samsung has bumped up the peak brightness to 1100 nits, giving it a noticeable boost outdoors.
Under the hood is where Samsung has made a real shift. The Galaxy M17 finally gets the in-house Exynos 1330 chipset, closing the gap between the A17 and M17 even further. The phone is quite weak on the memory front, with 4GB of RAM for the base variant.
As for the cameras, not much has changed from last year. You still get a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens. But this time around, the main camera also includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), just like the Galaxy A17, which should help with sharper shots and smoother videos.

On the software front, the Galaxy M17 runs One UI 7 based on Android 15, and Samsung is going all out with its update promise: six years of OS and security updates. That means your phone will be supported all the way until 2031, which is pretty impressive for a midrange device.

To sum it up, the Galaxy M17 falls just a bit short of what you’d expect from a budget smartphone. Here, I’m specifically referring to the 4GB RAM variant, which feels underwhelming and isn’t ideal for multitasking.
The 6GB variant, however, is not a bad pick, especially since the M17 now sits closer than ever to the fan-favorite Galaxy A17. And just like the A17, the M17 still manages to stand out as one of the better budget 5G smartphones you can get right now.
