Alpha Automotive, the authorized distributor of Royal Enfield motorcycles in Nepal, positions the Royal Enfield Scram 440 as a lighter and more affordable alternative to the Himalayan, while delivering the same fun, agility, and capable performance while maintaining a better balance between everyday usability and price.
What is the Price of the Royal Enfield Scram 440 in Nepal?
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 price in Nepal is Rs. 6.90 lakhs for the base Trail variant with tubed spoke wheels and Rs. 7.00 Lakhs for the higher Force variant that features tubeless alloy wheels. Apart from the wheel setup and color choices, both versions share the same mechanical components and feature list.
Both Scram 440 variants come with the new set of upgrades. For reference, the older Scram 411 used to cost about Rs. 23,000 less than the current model. Considering the additions such as a larger 443cc engine, a 6-speed gearbox, rear switchable ABS, LED headlamp, USB charging port, as well as optional alloy wheels and a tripper pod. Does the price increase feel reasonable and well-earned? Let’s find out.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 Overview
There are no major visual changes, as the Scram 440 continues to carry its retro scrambler styling built around the Half-Duplex Split Cradle Frame. Although it uses the same platform, a few dimensions have been refined. The wheelbase now measures 1560 mm, which is 5 mm longer than before, increasing the overall length to 2165 mm and the height to 1460 mm.
One of the key updates is the new LED headlamp that replaces the older halogen unit and pairs neatly with the LED taillight, while the indicators continue to use halogen bulbs. Another improvement is the strengthened sub-frame, now better suited for luggage mounts and top-box setups, adding more practicality for long-distance riders.

The Scram 440 is powered by a new engine that has evolved from the older 411. It remains a long-stroke air-cooled setup, but the displacement has been increased by 32cc through a 3 mm larger bore, changing the configuration from 78 mm x 86 mm to 81 mm x 86 mm. This adjustment also allowed Royal Enfield to introduce a sixth gear, improving high-speed cruising and overall refinement. As a result, the engine now produces 1.04 PS more power and 2 Nm more torque, both of which peak 250 rpm earlier than before.
There is an interesting reason behind Royal Enfield’s decision to increase the bore size instead of using the Himalayan’s 450cc engine. The Himalayan’s motor is far more advanced, featuring a 4-valve liquid-cooled DOHC setup, but it would have significantly increased the price of the Scram. To maintain simplicity and bridge the performance gap between the Himalayan and the rest of the lineup, Royal Enfield chose to evolve the existing engine rather than replace it entirely.

The Scram 440 gets a small but meaningful electronics upgrade. It now features switchable Dual-channel ABS, allowing riders to disable the rear ABS for better control on rough or loose terrain. Beyond that, the electronics package remains minimal, as it still lacks riding modes, a slipper clutch, and traction control.
These updates have added a bit of extra weight, increasing the total by around two kilograms. The Scram 440 now weighs 187 kg dry, or 196 kg with 90 percent fuel and oil.

Royal Enfield Scram 440 rivals the Triumph Scrambler 400 X.
On paper, the Triumph easily outclasses the Royal Enfield. It comes with a more advanced 4-valve, liquid-cooled DOHC engine that produces 14.58 PS more power and 3.5 Nm more torque. Even the feature list looks more premium, with an all-LED setup, Ride-by-Wire throttle, and switchable Traction Control, all while sitting in the same price bracket as the Scram 440.
The Scram 440, however, takes a simpler approach. It prioritizes the overall riding feel and experience rather than chasing headline figures. For instance, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X gets Upside-down Big Piston forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock with 150 mm of travel. In comparison, the Scram 440 uses a traditional 41 mm telescopic fork at the front and a linkage-type rear monoshock that offers 190 mm of front and 180 mm of rear travel. It also offers 5 mm more ground clearance than the Triumph, giving it better comfort and flexibility across a wider range of terrain.
While the Triumph Scrambler 400 X appears more capable on paper, the Royal Enfield Scram 440 delivers a surprisingly engaging and grounded experience that numbers alone don’t capture. The best way to find out which one suits you is to ride them both and see which one feels right.
