Redmi Note 15 Pro Almost Here in Nepal: And Battery is Bigger Than Ever!

Xiaomi’s much-loved Redmi Note series has finally started rolling out in select markets. Just like last year, the lineup includes a base, Pro, and Pro+ variant. And today, we’re focusing on the Pro 5G model of the Redmi Note 15.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro was a solid phone at launch, but the market has moved fast since then, with one banger smartphone after another raising the bar. Now, the big question is whether the Redmi Note 15 Pro can reclaim its position as one of the best bang-for-buck phones in its segment.

What is the Price of the Redmi Note 15 Pro in Nepal?

The Redmi Note 15 Pro price in Nepal is expected to start from Rs. 49,999 (8/256GB) and may range up to Rs. 55,999 (12/512GB). Now, the pricing may seem steep, but with RAM and storage prices having almost doubled in just a few months, smartphones, much like PC, could be in line for a significant price hike. Add to that the fact that the US dollar is currently at an all-time high, and rising smartphone prices start to make a lot more sense.

So, compared to last year, any price increase could be quite substantial. That said, this is still speculation for now, as the phone hasn’t officially made its way to the global market just yet. However, with December coming to an end, we’re getting closer to the official global debut of the Redmi Note series, one of the most popular lineups in the budget smartphone segment.

And for us Nepali users, the Redmi Note series could arrive a little later, most likely toward late January or even February.

Previous iterations of the Redmi Note Pro series have always impressed me. They usually deliver excellent value for money, decent cameras, bang-for-buck processors, and reliable battery life with fast charging.

However, over the past year, the smartphone market has become far more competitive. We’ve seen several phones offering even better value, with standout cameras, including telephoto lenses.

Looking at past trends, Redmi phones haven’t changed all that much, which makes this feel like the perfect time for Xiaomi to introduce some truly meaningful upgrades.

So, does the Redmi Note 15 Pro finally deliver those much-needed changes? Let’s find out.

Redmi Note 15 Pro Overview

The Redmi Note 14 Pro went all-in on curves, a curved back, a curved frame, and even a curved display. But with the Redmi Note 15 Pro, Xiaomi has done a complete U-turn. This time, everything is flat: the frame, the back, and the display. That said, the overall design language hasn’t really changed, as the camera module placement looks almost identical to last year.

Beyond the design shift, the display has grown slightly bigger. It’s now a 6.8-inch panel, up by 0.16 inches. Interestingly, it’s largely the same display we saw on last year’s Redmi Note 15 Pro, but with some meaningful improvements. PWM dimming has been cranked up to 3840Hz, and peak brightness now reaches an impressive 3200 nits. Resolution remains unchanged, sticking with a sharp 1.5K panel. The phone also comes with IP68/IP69K water and dust resistance, and the display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

When it comes to performance, there isn’t much to get excited about. The phone runs on the Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset, which offers only a minor bump over its predecessor. And despite Xiaomi slapping on the “Ultra” branding, real-world performance should be very similar to the standard Dimensity 7400, the same chip found in popular phones like the Infinix GT 30.

Memory options remain familiar as well. Just like last year, the Redmi Note 15 Pro is expected to launch with 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB variants, although lower configurations may be available in global markets.

The camera setup, while housed in the same module, has seen a welcome change. Xiaomi has finally ditched the largely useless 2MP macro camera. Instead, you get a cleaner dual-camera setup featuring a 200MP main sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide lens. On the front, there’s a 20MP selfie camera.

Lastly, the battery is where the biggest upgrade lies. Thanks to Si/C battery technology, the Redmi Note 15 Pro packs a massive 6,580mAh battery, a significant jump over its predecessor. Sadly, the charging remains the same at 45W HyperCharge, which comes included in the box. The phone also comes with 22.5W reverse wireless charging.

Software-wise, it launches with Android 15 running Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 on top, which, as usual for the Redmi Note series, isn’t exactly the newest Android version at launch.

Much of the Redmi Note 15 Pro’s spec sheet remains very similar to the Note 14 Pro 5G, with the battery being the biggest and most meaningful upgrade. As smartphone batteries continue to become more compact while packing in higher capacities, this was a much-needed improvement, and I’m genuinely glad to see Xiaomi deliver it this time.

Beyond that, there really isn’t a lot that has changed. But to be fair, last year’s Redmi Note 14 Pro was already a solid all-rounder, and if something isn’t broken, there’s little reason to fix it.

My only real concern right now is pricing. Since the phone hasn’t officially launched yet, this is purely speculation. Hopefully, the Redmi Note 15 Pro sticks close to last year’s pricing, because that’s what ultimately decides whether it remains the value-for-money champ or not.
