Every year, the Redmi Note series feels more stale. There was a time when Redmi Notes offered the best specs at the most aggressive prices. But with the last few generations, that flame has been burning quite low.

Let’s see if the Redmi Note 15 can reignite that flame.

The Redmi Note series has always focused on strong price-to-performance. You usually get a capable processor, balanced specs, and aggressive pricing.

That said, the Redmi Note 14 struggled to stand out. Phones like the CMF Phone 2 Pro and Infinix GT 30 easily outperformed it and made the base Note feel underwhelming.

Now the question is simple. Can the Redmi Note 15 take back its spot?

Alright, enough talk. Let’s jump into the full overview.

Redmi Note 15 Overview

The Redmi Note 15 completely changes direction in terms of design. The Redmi Note 14 used a mostly flat body with a slight curve on the back. This year, Redmi curves the frame, back, and display, and shifts the camera module to the top center.

Because of this, the Note 15 now looks much closer to the Redmi Note 15 Pro and Pro+. Redmi also removed the 3.5mm headphone jack, which the Note 14 still had last year.

The curved display makes the bezels look slimmer and gives the phone a more premium feel. Redmi increases the screen size slightly to 6.77 inches, up by 0.1 inch. The phone keeps the 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED panel, but Redmi boosts peak brightness to 3200 nits, nearly 1000 nits higher than before.

Performance sees a major upgrade with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Samsung uses the same chip in the Galaxy A36, which costs over Rs. 45,000. In raw performance, the 6 Gen 3 sits close to the Dimensity 7300, making the expected pricing of the Note 15 very competitive.

Redmi also simplified the camera setup. It removes the 2MP macro camera and now uses a dual-camera system. Redmi mentions a third AI camera, but the lack of details suggests a depth sensor. The 108MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide remain, with a slightly larger ultrawide sensor. The rear camera now records 4K video at 30fps.

The phone packs a 5,520mAh Si/C battery, which is 410mAh larger than last year’s. This battery tech allows Redmi to make the phone 0.5mm thinner. Charging stays at 45W, but Redmi adds 18W reverse wired charging.

Finally, the Redmi Note 15 ships with Android 15 running HyperOS 2, and this is where things get frustrating. Even though the phone is launching after the release of the latest Android version (Android 16), Redmi is still shipping it with last year’s Android.

The Redmi Note 15 brings some meaningful upgrades over the Redmi Note 14. The design looks better, the performance sees a clear improvement, and the battery gets Si/C technology, which is great to see trickle down into the budget segment.

That said, these upgrades also make the phone feel far more premium. If Xiaomi pushes the price higher than expected, the Note 15 could lose its iconic “budget” appeal and turn into just another premium-budget smartphone.
