Panasonic may not be a brand that comes to mind when people think about smartphones. It has been mostly absent in the Nepalese market and doesn’t have much of a presence in the International stage too. But it wants to change its status in Nepal by launching 5 new phones aimed at the budget market with a new official distributor, Global Biz Pvt. Ltd.
Though this is the most lucrative price segment in Nepal for manufacturers, the competition in the budget market is fierce. We’ll have to see how Panasonic Nepal fares with its competitors like Xiaomi, Colors, and others.
Panasonic New Mobiles
Panasonic P91
The Panasonic P91 is the cheapest offering from Panasonic among its new smartphones. It is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core Media Tek Processor inside and runs Android Nougat 7.0. Performance-wise you’ll get what you pay for. Its one GB of RAM is barely enough to complete basic tasks like calling and texting. As for the storage, Panasonic P91 comes with 16 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using Micro-SD card.
In the camera department, it boasts an 8 MP sensor on the back equipped with a LED flash. On the front, a 5 MP camera adores the forehead of the phone. The screen has an HD resolution which is very welcomed at this price and all of this is powered by a 2500mAh battery.

Panasonic P100
Things get a little more interesting with the Panasonic P100 4G. Though you still get just 1GB of RAM, you are getting a higher clocked 1.25 GHz quad-core MediaTek Processor. The internal storage provided in Panasonic P100 is 16GB which can be expanded up to 128 GB using Micro-SD card.
It has an 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP selfie camera which look similar in paper to the Panasonic P91. The OS is still Android 7.0 Nougat. So, what’s extra you say? Well, this phone has a fingerprint sensor just below the primary camera and a flash for the front camera. You can assign finger-print to unlock for individual apps too. But the battery capacity has decreased to 2200mAh which seems odd as more component and a faster processor has been added to the phone.

Panasonic P99
When Panasonic giveth, Panasonic taketh. With the Panasonic P99, you finally get a much-desired upgrade to 2 GB of RAM. But you have to say goodbye to the front flash and the fingerprint sensor, What?, that you get in its cheaper sibling Panasonic P100. We don’t understand the exclusion, neither the trend of decreasing battery with the increasing price — Panasonic P99 has a 2000mAh battery.
The other internals is similar to the P100 though. You get 5″ IPS HD screen, a 1.25GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, Android 7.0 same old 8 MP camera on the back and 5 MP camera on the front. The internal storage is 16 GB which is expandable up to 128 GB using Micro-SD card.

Panasonic Eluga I9
The display on the Panasonic Eluga I9 is 5.0″ IPS HD. This is the same display used on the previous 3 phones. But much has changed with the internals. Panasonic Eluga I9 packs in a 3GB of RAM making it much more capable for multitasking. It offers 32 GB internal storage double than the 16 GB offered in other phones.
The primary camera also gets a bump up to a 13 MP sensor from 8 MP. And finally, the trend of decreasing battery with increasing price breaks as the Eluga I9 includes 2500mAh battery which, though larger than some of other Panasonic phone, is still smaller than the ones included in the phones from Xiaomi and Huawei. But you can console yourself with the fact that fingerprint scanner is included in this phone.

Panasonic Eluga A4
Panasonic A4 is the most expensive smartphone on this launch from Panasonic. The Panasonic A4 comes with a 2.5D curved 5.2″ HD IPS display, with a pixel density of 282 ppi. It is powered by a 1.25 GHz processor from MediaTek. Pair that with 3GBof RAM and it can handle all the basic tasks like light Facebook and YouTube along with some very light gaming well enough. Panasonic A4 comes preloaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.
On the optics department, it has a 13 MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. Below the primary camera on the back lies the beloved fingerprint sensor. But the best feature on this phone is what lies behind the back panel. It has a massive 5000mAh battery which can easily take you through 2 days if you have light to a moderate use case. We highly praise Panasonic Eluga A4 for providing so much juice in this phone. We wish we could say this to all of the other phones above.
