Oppo A3 Overview

Design

The Oppo A3 has a pretty standard boxy design with flat sides that you see on a lot of phones these days. It’s got that familiar iPhone vibe, with its smoothed-out rectangular shape body. The camera island is even designed like that of the iPhone 12.

For protection, the Oppo A3 has an IP54 dust and water resistance. The real highlight, though, is its MIL-STD 810H rating, which means it’s tough and can handle drops and scratches pretty well.

Just keep in mind that these ratings are based on lab tests, so they might not always hold up in real life. Treating your phone like you would any other device will usually keep it in better shape for longer.

Display

The display in the Oppo A3 is an 8-bit 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel. The hole punch screen has a resolution of 720 x 1604 pixels, which gives it a pixel density of 264ppi.

The display is plenty bright, reaching a maximum brightness of 1000nits under sunlight, and for a smooth user experience, the display has a 90Hz refresh rate with a max touch sampling rate of 180Hz.

The screen also continues with the whole military standard protection theme and comes with twice-reinforced China Southern and Panda Glass for added durability. Besides that, the display supports Oppo’s Splash Touch which keeps the screen touch functionality accurate during wet conditions.

Hardware

Now we move to the inside of this device. Powering the smartphone is an 11nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 processor that has 4x 2.1 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. An Adreno 610 coprocessor takes care of the graphics department.

The 6s 4G Gen 1 chip, although similar sounding to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 which is made using a 4nm fabrication process, is not a modified variant of it and is in fact a much older rebranded and repurposed Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor with overclocked cores.

On the memory side, in Nepal, customers will be getting only the 128GB 6GB RAM and the 256GB 8GB RAM variants. The phone supports microSD card expansion.

Talking about extra features, the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a speaker that has a 300% volume boost mode.

Cameras

Moving to the cameras, the A3 smartphone has a 50MP main camera that’s accompanied by an auxiliary ‘flicker sensor’ that automatically adjusts shutter speed and ISO by measuring the surrounding lights.

This means that the phone comes with just one actual camera on the rear and one 5MP camera on the front. Video-wise, the camera can record up to 1080p at 30 frames per second from both cameras.

Battery and OS

Oppo has put a 5100mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging inside the Oppo A3. The battery charges via a USB-C charger and as per Oppo’s claims, the battery “Goes from flat to 50% in just 30 minutes.”

The 5100mAh battery is also durable, and as per Oppo’s claims, will retain 80% charging capacity even after 4 years with normal usage.

On the software side, the phone comes loaded with Android 14 with Color OS 14.0 skin applied on top. The company hasn’t disclosed how long it will be providing software support though.

Oppo A3 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Oppo A3 price in Nepal is Rs. 22,999 (6/128GB) and Rs. 27,999 (8/256GB). The phone can be purchased through Oppo-authorized retail stores and online e-commerce sites in Nepal.

Currently, Oppo is holding a pre-booking that started on 28th August and will last until 5th September 2024. The first 1,300 customers who pre-order the phone will receive a free RealFit wireless speaker with their purchase.

6/128GB Rs. 22999
8/256GB Rs. 27999

The Oppo A3 is a decent mid-range phone but it falls a bit short compared to its competitors. Phones in the same price bracket like the Tecno Spark 20 Pro Plus, Infinix Note 40, and Redmi Note 13 offer a much more premium-looking build and internal specs compared to the Oppo A3 which feels a bit pricey for what you get.
