The OnePlus 15 series just got bigger with the arrival of the OnePlus 15R. It delivers much of the flagship experience at a slightly lower level, making a few smart compromises along the way. The phone is expected to launch in Nepal soon.

Now, I’ll be honest, the OnePlus 15 really impressed me this year. On paper, it ticks almost every box. But the moment I saw its pricing in Nepal, that excitement quickly turned into disappointment.
Hopefully, OnePlus doesn’t repeat the same story with the OnePlus 15R, because if priced right, this phone could make a lot more sense for the Nepali market.
What is the Price of the OnePlus 15R in Nepal?
The OnePlus 15 also comes with a massive price hike in Nepal compared to its Indian pricing—roughly Rs. 30,000 more. Even when compared to the older OnePlus 13, the latest flagship ends up costing about Rs. 20,000 extra. Going by this trend, there’s a good chance the OnePlus 15R could receive similar pricing treatment.
The OnePlus 15R price in Nepal could be Rs. 89,999 for the sole 12/256GB model. It comes in three colors: Mint Breeze, Charcoal Black, and Electric Violet.
The phone made its global debut on December 22. While OnePlus hasn’t officially announced a Nepal launch yet, looking at previous OnePlus flagship rollouts, we can expect the OnePlus 15R to arrive in the Nepali market sometime in early to mid-January.
The OnePlus 13R was a massive success, and not just because its price-to-performance ratio was off the charts. It also ended up outshining the more expensively priced OnePlus 12R, making the latter feel almost obsolete.
Now, we could be looking at a similar situation all over again if the expected pricing turns out to be true. OnePlus might end up pricing the OnePlus 15R a bit too high, only for the next iteration to absolutely nail it and steal the spotlight next year.
That said, pricing aside, the specs on the OnePlus 15R actually look very solid. It doesn’t feel like OnePlus has stripped down the OnePlus 15 too aggressively this time around. On paper, at least, the 15R still looks like a genuinely capable and well-balanced phone.
Alright, enough talk, let’s jump straight into what the latest OnePlus semi-flagship has to offer.
OnePlus 15R Overview
Just like the OnePlus 15, the OnePlus 15R gets major design changes, most notably a new rectangular camera module. The phone now features a completely flat design, while the black variant gets a Micro Arc Oxidation–style ceramic finish for better scratch resistance and durability.
OnePlus has also removed the iconic Alert Slider, replacing it with a new Plus Key. On top of that, the phone sees a huge durability upgrade, jumping from IP65 to IP68 and IP69K water and dust resistance.

Flip the phone over, and you’ll find a large 6.83-inch LTPS AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and support for up to a 165Hz refresh rate. It’s not an LTPO panel, but with the massive battery onboard, battery life shouldn’t be much of a concern. Most impressively, the display also features an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, something you usually only see on flagship phones.
Powering the OnePlus 15R is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Now, this is not the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found in the OnePlus 15, yeah, the naming is confusing. But to put things into perspective, performance sits comfortably between the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the 8 Elite Gen 5. The phone also gets OnePlus’ Touch Response Chip and a dedicated Wi-Fi chip, just like its flagship sibling.

In terms of memory, the OnePlus 15R pairs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, along with either 256GB or 512GB of fast UFS 4.1 storage. However, Nepali buyers could only see the 12/256GB variant enter the market.
The camera is where the OnePlus 15R takes a clear hit, especially compared to the OnePlus 15 and even the older 13R. The biggest downgrade is the removal of the telephoto lens, leaving the phone with just two rear cameras: a 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide.

That said, like the OnePlus 15, all image processing is now handled in-house by OnePlus’ “Detail Max Engine,” which should still deliver respectable results despite the hardware compromise.
Battery life looks very promising, thanks to a huge 7,400mAh silicon-carbon battery. Charging is handled by 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging.
On the software side, the OnePlus 15R runs Android 16 with OxygenOS 16 right out of the box with 4 years of major Android updates and 6 years of security patches.

The OnePlus 15R looks genuinely impressive, and it’s clear that OnePlus is prioritizing performance with this phone. You’re getting a great display, a powerful processor, an excellent battery, and a very polished OS experience.
The only real caveat here is the camera. Once you start touching the Rs. 60,000 price bracket, almost every phone in that segment includes a telephoto lens. Dropping the telephoto from the 15R feels like a questionable move, and honestly, a pretty big blunder from OnePlus.
That said, OnePlus might still be able to pull this off. The Nord 5 also skipped a telephoto lens, yet delivered surprisingly decent camera performance. So, a lot will come down to tuning and processing.
In the end, everything hinges on pricing. If OnePlus Nepal manages to price the 15R sensibly, it could easily outshine the OnePlus 13R. But if they miss the mark, we could be looking at yet another OnePlus 12R–like situation all over again.
