NTC Warns about Fake Lottery Messages via Viber, Imo, and WhatsApp

Nepal Telecom (NTC) has recently released a notice to aware the people about the fake lottery being conducted on various social media outlets.

Why it matters:

  • According to the notice, it has been found that there have been multiple reports of messages from national and International numbers saying that the receivers have won a lottery on messaging applications such as Viber, IMO, and WhatsApp. In order to receive their prizes, the users are urged to deposit a certain amount as remittance.
  • NT has requested the users to be aware of this type of fake lottery and to avoid being scammed.
  • The scam messages usually mention that the user has won money in lucky draw of Kaun Banega Crorepati (See below).
