Namaste Pay users will now soon have the ability to scan Fonepay QR codes for making transactions.
Fonepay, Nepal’s largest interoperable payment network, announced on Wednesday (June 28, 2023) the onboarding of Namaste Pay, Nepal’s first government-owned digital wallet, in Fonepay’s interoperable payment ecosystem, enabling easy QR payment transactions.
The agreement was signed by Fonepay CEO Diwas Kumar Sapkota and Namaste Pay CEO Prabin Raj Pokharel in the presence of representatives from both organizations and media personnel.

With this integration, all Namaste Pay users gain access to Fonepay’s extensive network of 1.2 million merchants across Nepal, allowing them to conveniently make QR transactions.
Speaking on the announcement, Diwas Kumar Sapkota, the CEO of Fonepay said, “We are delighted to welcome Namaste Pay into our growing payment ecosystem. This partnership aligns with our vision to provide a comprehensive digital payment experience to our users. By integrating Namaste Pay, we offer our customers a wider range of payment options and foster a more inclusive financial ecosystem.”
Similarly expressing his delight over the integration, the CEO of Namaste Pay, Prabin Raj Pokharel, said, “We are extremely happy to join hands with Fonepay and enable Namaste Pay users with access to 1.2 million Fonepay merchants throughout the country. Namaste Pay users can also benefit from other Fonepay services with this partnership. We also look forward to making our customers’ digital journey smooth without innovations and value-added services.”
