Honor Pad X9a Launching in Nepal Soon: Smartphone Turned to a Tablet?

Honor recently added the Pad X9a to its X series tablet lineup, and it’s now gearing up for launch in Nepal as well.

Unlike the Honor X9 smartphone series, which leaned toward the semi-budget segment, the Pad X9a is a true budget tablet, powered by a budget SoC.

What is the Price of the Honor Pad X9a in Nepal?

The Honor Pad X9a price in Nepal could be Rs. 29,499 (6/128GB) and Rs. 32,999 (8/128GB).

Honor Nepal has only just begun teasing the Pad X9a on its social media platforms, suggesting that the tablet’s launch is right around the corner.

The Honor Pad X9a shares more than just its name with the Honor X9a smartphone. In fact, it uses the same chipset found in that phone, which launched nearly two years ago.

Using such an old chip in 2025 does feel like a lost cause. But fortunately, it looks like the Pad X9a redeems itself in a few key areas like battery life, display quality, and charging speed.

Let’s dive into the specs and overview and see if that’s true.

Honor Pad X9a Overview

Design

The Honor Pad X9a follows the typical design pattern of most budget tablets on the market. It features a plastic body with a matte grey finish that mimics aluminum. So, at first glance, it looks like it has a metal build.

On the back, there’s a squarish camera module housing a single main camera. The flat frames hold the usual volume rocker along with a power button positioned below it.

Unfortunately, the power button does not include a fingerprint sensor, so you’ll have to rely on face unlock, PIN, or pattern.

The tablet is also noticeably thinner than most competitors, coming in at just 6.77mm. This gives it an edge over the iPad 11th Gen, which measures 7mm thick.

There’s a total of four speakers, two on the top and two on the bottom, for a stereo audio setup.

Display

The Pad X9a features a large 11.5-inch IPS display with an 86% screen-to-body ratio. The bezels are symmetrical, as you’d typically expect on a tablet.

With a 2.5K resolution and an 11.5-inch size, the display offers a pixel density of 255 PPI. It’s not flagship-level crisp, but you shouldn’t notice any pixelation during normal use.

This is a smooth 120Hz refresh rate panel. However, given that the SoC is fairly mid-range, the device might not fully utilize the display’s high refresh rate potential.

Brightness is another area where the tablet falls short, peaking at just 400 nits. While that’s adequate for indoor use, you may struggle to see the screen clearly in bright conditions or outdoors.

Hardware

While most of the specs so far are decent and passable, the Snapdragon 685 SoC on the Pad X9a is not. It’s an 8-core chipset built on a 6nm process.

That might sound impressive at first glance, but this is an entry-level SoC meant for everyday tasks rather than raw performance. With that in mind, the tablet should handle general use like social media scrolling, web browsing, and video streaming just fine.

As for gaming, it can handle light titles, but don’t expect it to run demanding games like PUBG or Call of Duty Mobile at high frame rates.

The Pad X9a comes in a 6GB and an 8GB variant, but what makes it worse is that all variants come with just 128GB of storage and no microSD card support.

At a lower price point, the Redmi Pad 2 offers much better value with its Helio G100, which outperforms the Snapdragon 685.

Camera

Tablet users rarely rely on them to capture high-quality photos. Cameras on tablets are typically used for scanning documents, taking quick, passable shots, or for video calls. And it seems like Honor had exactly that in mind with the Pad X9a’s camera setup.

It features an 8MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera, both of which are quite basic. In fact, Honor doesn’t even list detailed specifications for them on its official website. As for video recording, both cameras should be capable of capturing 1080p footage at 30fps.

OS and Battery

The Honor Pad X9a ships with Android 15 out of the box, layered with Honor’s custom MagicOS 9 skin on top. As for software support, Honor hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet—but we can be hopeful that the tablet will receive at least two years of Android upgrades.

On the battery front, it packs a respectable 8,300mAh cell with support for 35W fast charging.

Honor Pad X9a Price in Nepal and Availability

Honor Pad X9a price in Nepal could be Rs. 29,499 (6/128GB) and Rs. 32,999 (8/128GB). While the tablet hasn’t officially launched yet, Honor Nepal has been teasing it for the past few days, so its arrival seems just around the corner.

Most of the specs on the Honor Pad X9a are understandable, like the plastic body and the half-decent camera. I can even get on board with the 128GB storage space. However, the Snapdragon 685 doesn’t really fit well in this budget segment.

A Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 would have been a much better choice for this price, or maybe even a Helio G100 if we’re sticking to 4G. That’s exactly what Redmi did with the Pad 2, which offers better performance while costing less than the Honor Pad X9a.
