Honor Pad X7 Price Hiked! Is it Still the Best Budget Tablet?

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Honor Pad X7 price in Nepal is Rs. 21,999 for the 4/128GB variant.
  • The tablet features an 8.7-inch TFT LCD panel with a massive 7,020mAh battery.
  • It is powered by a Snapdragon 680 processor.

Honor entered the budget tablet scene with the Pad X7, which was one of, if not the best, picks for the price. The tablet market in Nepal isn’t as lively, but its competition with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 is quite fierce.

While both tablets had unique edges, the Honor Pad X7 appeared to have a slight edge. But now that its price has hiked, how does it affter the Honor Pad X7?

When you look at Honor’s X series smartphones, like the X7d and X9c, they were all built for durability and endurance. From the looks of it, the same seems true for the tablet series as well, at least when it comes to endurance.

Let’s explore more about the Honor Pad X7:

Honor Pad X7 Overview

The Honor Pad X7 is a compact tablet with an 8.7-inch screen, small enough that you could even hold it in one hand. However, it’s fairly thick for its size, coming in just 0.1mm shy of 8mm. At first, I thought it felt a bit bulky, but considering the battery size, it’s understandable.

On the back, there’s an “Integrated Metal Back Panel,” which, according to Honor, has passed 42 reliability tests.

The display is a TFT LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. For a budget tablet, I’m not complaining. What I am concerned about is the large screen paired with just HD+ resolution, which could make the display look slightly pixelated. The panel peaks at 625 nits, which is fine for indoor use, but you might find yourself squinting under bright sunlight.

The processor isn’t particularly impressive, using a four-year-old 4G chip, Snapdragon 680. Still, for the price, I don’t mind.

Sure, something like MediaTek Helio G99, the Galaxy A11 rocks would have been much nicer. But on a tablet like this, all I am trying to do is watch the next episode of “The Office” rather than play Genshin Impact.

And for that, I much appreciate the 7,020mAh cell the Honor X7d has over the measly 5,100mAh of juice A11 has. Unfortunately, charging is limited to 10W, while the Galaxy’s charging is 50% faster.

The camera setup is similar to the Galaxy Tab A11, featuring an 8MP rear and a 5MP front shooter. While it’s far from ideal for photography, it should be more than adequate for casual video calls, which is all that we do on a tablet anyway.

With a 90Hz TFT display, Snapdragon 680 chip, and just 10W charging speed, the Honor Pad X7 doesn’t impress much on paper. However, with its massive battery and double the storage of the Galaxy Tab A11, it has its aces.

The recent price hike may have you believe that the favors have tipped towards Samsung’s side. But they are on even more equal footing.

Now the defining factor is your priorities: Do you want to store more games on your tablet and have great battery life? Or limited storage space is fine, but do you need that extra omnph and premium software experience for your work? If the answer is former, then Honor X7d is the one for you!
