While Samsung just adopted a super-thin frame for its foldable, the company that did it first was Honor. In fact, we can attribute them for starting this whole slim foldable trend. So, it’s really no surprise that their latest and greatest Honor Magic V5 is the thinnest foldable in the world.
After introducing the Magic V2 and dipping out, I thought Honor would be a one-hit wonder in the foldable genre. Thankfully, they’re back! And it’s still good to see Honor making a comeback in the sparsely populated Nepali market.
What is the Price of the Honor Magic V5 in Nepal?
Honor Nepal has just started teasing the phone, so its actual release date is still uncertain. On top of that, they’ve also stated that the price will only be revealed after September 10.
So, we don’t really know how much it will cost. But we expect that the Honor Magic V5 Price in Nepal could be around Rs. 2,49,999 for the sole 16/512GB variant.
The phone is also available for pre-booking until the aforementioned date, and the early bird will receive both Honor Watch 4 and Honor Choice Earbuds Clip as a complimentary gift.
The competition between folding phones in Nepal is getting quite mouthwatering. Samsung is in great shape — the Galaxy Z Fold looks the best it ever has. Oppo Find N5, a highly praised foldable by the tech community, also made its way to Nepal. And now, Honor is coming back too! As a fan of folding phones, I couldn’t be happier.
But for now, let’s see if the Honor Magic V5 brings anything valuable to this ultimate foldable stand-off that’s gearing up.

Honor Magic V5 Overview
Design
Every time Honor drops its bookstyle foldable, you can expect it to be the thinnest one the world has ever seen. And the Honor Magic V5 is no different, measuring in at just 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.8mm when folded. These numbers are for the Ivory White version.
The Black, Reddish Brown, and Dawn Gold versions, on the other hand, are 2mm and 1mm thicker, when folded and unfolded, respectively. To put things into perspective, Honor’s thicker models share the same numbers as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 — the thinnest Galaxy Fold ever.
With these thickness levels, the V5 will feel like a regular phone when it’s in your pocket.
The ingress rating has been bumped to IP58/IP59, making it more resistant than the Galaxy Fold, which, for the longest time, was the only foldable phone to offer dust protection.
Not only that, the shield-grade hinge is just as powerful, with a tensile strength of 2,300MPa (megapascal). And to show it off, Honor placed an 84kg refrigerator along with 20kg of weighted plates tied to the center of the Magic V5 to demonstrate its strong hinge. According to Honor, the phone is reliable for 500,000 folds.
The camera bump adds a bit of extra bulk to the back. But on the bright side, it does mean a larger sensor size, which translates to better image quality. The back also has a textured finish.
When unfolded, the device has curved corners. And when folded, the right corner is rounded while the left remains flat. It looks a tad asymmetrical to me, and it itches my OCD.

Display
When unfolded, the Magic V5 has the smallest screen size at 7.95 inches compared to the two foldable models available in Nepal, the Z Fold 7 and the Find N5. Despite the smaller size, it packs a resolution of 2172 x 2352 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 403 PPI, which is much higher than what the Z Fold 7 offers. The inner display is also protected by what HONOR calls a “Super Armored Screen.”
It’s a foldable LTPO AMOLED panel with 1B colors and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, the highest any foldable currently offers in Nepal. On top of that, it is protected by HONOR’s Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield.
The cover screen shares almost the exact same specs as the inner display, with an LTPO AMOLED panel and the same 5,000 nits of peak brightness. Again, its resolution is the smallest of the bunch, coming in at 1060 x 2376 pixels.
Both displays also feature 4320Hz PWM dimming, making them easier on the eyes during extended use.
Now, given how thin the phone is, I was surprised to see that pen support wasn’t stripped away. That’s what Samsung did after all. HONOR has maintained stylus support for the Magic V5 on both the main and cover displays. However, the pen needs to be purchased separately.
Hardware
The Honor Magic V5 gets the best combination of hardware. It runs on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a flagship chip found on top-tier phones like the S25 Ultra, OnePlus 13, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and more.
Although it’s not an overclocked version like the one in Samsung’s flagships, it should be more than enough for heavy multitasking and capable of handling almost anything you throw at it.
Besides that, it comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, which is impressive considering its rivals still feature UFS 4.0.
However, given the phone’s massive power, the Snapdragon 8 Elite could run hot, especially since Honor hasn’t mentioned any dedicated cooling mechanism like a vapor chamber.
Cameras and AI
The cameras are quite interesting as well. The Magic V5 features an AI Falcon camera system on the rear, which includes a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and, despite how thin the phone is, a massive 64MP periscope camera that supports up to 3x optical zoom.
The phone can also extend this 3x optical zoom to 50x or even 100x using Honor’s AI Super Zoom. It uses AI to enhance zoomed pictures, but it does require an active internet connection.
On the front of both the main and cover displays, there’s a 20MP selfie camera. The numbers aren’t particularly exciting, but you can always use the main rear camera for selfies with the cover screen as a preview.
That said, the main camera comes with a wide ƒ/1.6 aperture, so your background could appear nicely blurred.
When it comes to video, the rear camera setup can record up to 4K at 60fps, while the front cameras max out at 4K at 30fps.
The phone also packs a host of AI editing tools, including image editing, AI eraser, AI outpainting (for background extension), and AI image-to-video. Apparently, it uses Google’s V2 model to turn static images into realistic videos, though the feature is only available with a limited free trial.

Battery and OS
The Magic V5 does much better in the battery department than the competition. It boasts a massive 5,820mAh battery. On top of that, it’s a Si/C battery, which isn’t surprising considering Honor was the first to use this technology.
For charging, the phone supports 66W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
On the software front, it ships with Android 15, layered with Honor’s MagicOS. And, like Samsung, Honor is also promising an impressive 7 years of OS upgrades.
Honor Magic V5 Price in Nepal and Availability
The Honor Magic V5 Price in Nepal is expected to be around Rs. 2,49,999 for the 16/512GB variant. Honor Nepal has already started teasing the phone on their social media handles, but according to them, the actual pricing and launch date will only be revealed after September 10.
Honor Magic V5 | Price in Nepal [Expected] |
---|---|
16/512GB | Rs. 2,49,999 |
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 wasn’t all that impressive, which might be why Honor saw an opening to return as the slimmer, slicker alternative. But with the makeover Samsung gave its seventh iteration foldable, we’ll have to wait and see if it can lure users away from Samsung’s nicer software experience.
