MAW Vriddhi AutoCorp has been one of the standout names in Nepal’s automotive scene, enjoying remarkable success in introducing Changan vehicles to the market at exactly the right time in the country’s EV journey. The story of Deepal S07 is already a well-established one. After all, it became one of the most successful electric vehicles in Nepal, setting a strong precedent for what was to come.

After introducing two extra variants of the S07 (i.e., S07 L and S07 ICA), the company has now brought in a fresh Deepal S05. Much like its bigger sibling, the S05 is built on Changan’s dedicated EPA1 platform, engineered specifically for their new energy vehicles. By making full use of this platform, the S05 manages to strike an appealing balance between performance, affordability, and a refined driving experience.

This combination has already created quite a buzz in Nepal’s automotive community. And, the excitement isn’t limited to Nepal. When the S05 made its debut in China in October 2024, it immediately attracted thousands of orders within a short time.

The S05 is covered under a similar Deepal Nepal warranty, i.e., 8-year (or 150000 Km warranty) on the Battery and Motor, a 3-year (or 120000 Km warranty) for the overall Vehicle, and a 1-year warranty on the Charger.

Let’s have a look at the key specs of Deepal S05 in Nepal for 2025.

Deepal S05 Overview

Exterior

The Deepal S05 is a mid-size SUV that stands out with its “pebble-smooth” design, setting it apart from its look-alike sibling, the S07. It feels familiar, almost like you’re looking at an S07, yet there’s a certain subtleness in the S05, the kind that makes it recognizable without feeling like a scaled-down copy. It’s a bit like that saying, “same family, different personality.”

Starting with the front, the lighting elements look instantly recognizable. The split LED DRLs flank the closed grille, while the Projector LED Headlights sit lower on the bumper. These projectors stand out thanks to what Deepal calls the “Delta-Wing” effect, where black claddings form wing-like accents around them. Down below, the bumper integrates Active Aero Flaps, which play a practical role in both improving aerodynamics and aiding battery cooling.

On the side profile, the resemblance to the S07 continues. Judging the S05 purely by silhouette can be tricky, since both share nearly identical proportions. But look closer, and the differences begin to surface. The S05 is slightly shorter in length by 130 mm, shorter in height by 25 mm, and it carries a wheelbase that is trimmed by 20 mm. These changes are subtle enough that only keen eyes will pick them up.

So, let’s look at the most noticeable difference in the wheels. The S05 rides on 18-inch Alloys as compared to the larger 20-inch wheels on the S07. But, an interesting thing to note here is that, despite the difference in wheel size, the ground clearance remains the same for both models at 175 mm. Why is that the case?

Well, it can’t be said for sure but the chemistry of the kerb weight of an EV, its weight distribution, suspension geometry, and tire size is something that our local importers have properly understood.

Moving on, another area of distinction is the C-pillar. The S05 uses a softer, oval-shaped design, whereas the S07 opts for sharper, more angular lines. Apart from these details, most elements carry over, including Frameless Doors, Flush Door Handles, and a cladded lower body.

At the rear, the boxy proportions dominate, but the design doesn’t feel plain thanks to a full-width LED taillight. The bar is accented with fish-tail-like elements, or in Deepal’s words, “Star-Feather”, at each end, which appear simpler and more understated than the star-petal design found on the S07. The boot area is accessible via a Power control in the Max variant, which has to be manually done in the Plus variant.

It comes with Orange, Blue, or Grey interior colors, and exterior options include Gray, White, Blue, Black, and Silver.

Interior

Moving inside, the S05 greets you with a leatherette-wrapped cabin that comes in two themes: an Orange interior or a classic Black setup. The orange version positions itself as a more premium choice, though it comes at an extra cost.

Layout-wise, the cabin feels almost identical to the S07, keeping that familiar Deepal vibe intact. Front and center sits a massive 14.4-inch Infotainment Touchscreen. In the higher “Max” trim, the system gets the “Sunflower” feature, which allows the screen to rotate and tilt from the driver to the front passenger.

Also, there’s a Remote Access feature on its infotainment screen that lets you control the car from a distance. Once allowed by the Infotainment, you can move the car forward or backward up to a few meters through the car key.

This function is designed specifically for convenience in tight spaces, making it easier to slide the car out without having to get behind the wheel. Of course, it only allows movement for a few meters, so it’s not something you would use for actual driving, but it comes in handy in those tricky parking situations.

Instrument cluster fans might notice its absence, but Deepal makes up for it with a dedicated Head-Up Display that projects key driving data, including AR navigation.

On the connectivity front, like the newly launched S07 ICA, it comes with built-in e-SIM support, offering both 4G and 5G connectivity options.

The seats come with a Perforated design, offering Ventilation and Heating for the driver and front passenger in the Max variant. The top trim also adds Memory functions, a Power Lumbar Assist, and even a front passenger Leg Rest. Meanwhile, both variants include a 6-Way Power Adjustable Driver’s Seat as standard. An extra bit of quirkiness is the Queen Co-pilot Seat (Front Passenger Seats) with ‘Zero Gravity’ position and nap mode on the Max variant.

The floating center console is neatly executed, with tucked-in AC vents, a dedicated phone holder, cup holders, and a generously sized glove storage compartment. Buyers who opt for the Max trim also enjoy a 50W Wireless Charger integrated into the console.

When it comes to sound, Deepal doesn’t cut corners. The Plus variant comes with an 8-speaker audio setup, while the Max variant elevates it with a premium 14-speaker sound system. To top it off, the Max trim also includes a Panoramic Glass Roof.

What becomes clear is that Deepal has positioned the Max trim as the “full experience” option. Many of the standout features are exclusive to it, leaving the Plus trim a bit more modest in comparison. Still, even the base configuration carries enough appeal for those who want the design and core tech without going all-in.

Performance

Deepal S05 is powered by a 99 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that generates a max power of 135 PS and a max torque of 320 Nm.

It is supported by a 56.12 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery pack and boasts a WLTP claimed range of 405 km. A 7 kW AC charger fully charges the battery from 0% to 100% in around 9 hours.

The battery on the S05 is called the Golden Shield Battery System developed by CATL (largest EV battery manufacturer), and this battery pack is said to have some serious benchmark characteristics such as 5000 cycles, i.e., the battery pack can be charged and discharged for 5000 times before any decline in performance, 30% to 80% in 15 minutes with a 150 kW DC charging, an outstanding cold weather performance, etc.

On its international BEV variant, which features a 175 kW Motor, the S05 boasts a top speed of 180 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds. However, the corresponding data for this 99 kW capped form is not known as of yet.

But it is quite certain that its near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution and Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) allow for enhanced handling, acceleration, and stability.

Also, internationally, the S05 offers an “Extended Range” variant that combines a petrol engine with electric power to enhance efficiency. However, this model is not and probably will not be introduced in Nepal.

Deepal S05 Price in Nepal and Availability

Talking about the price, Deepal S05 price in Nepal starts at Rs. 49,99,000 for the Plus variant and goes up to Rs. 56,99,000 for the Max variant.

However, that’s the MRP, and the introductory price in Nepal has been slashed for both variants, bringing the S05 price in Nepal to Rs. 48,99,000 for the Plus variant and Rs. 54,99,000 for the Max variant.

The interior theme itself adds an unexpected twist to the pricing. Deepal has carried over the signature Orange-themed cabin from the S07 to the S05. However, if you want that instead of the standard all-black interior, you will need to pay an extra Rs. 1 lakh. This additional cost applies to both variants, so no matter which one you choose, the splash of orange comes with a premium.

Interested individuals can reach out to the showrooms for additional information, as the bookings have already been opened for the Deepal S05.

The following table lists the Deepal S05 price in Nepal for 2025.

Rivals

Right off the bat, the Deepal S05 feels like a bargain at its price point, especially when we look at the current competition. The ongoing price wars between EV brands in Nepal, which became quite evident during the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025, make this even more interesting. To put things into perspective, let’s compare the top variant of the Deepal S05 with the top variant of the Leapmotor B10.

One of the clear advantages of the Leapmotor B10 lies in its higher power output, but that strength doesn’t carry over to torque. Despite using a smaller 99 kW motor, the Deepal S05 delivers more torque than the B10’s larger 160 kW unit (320 Nm versus 240 Nm). Now, this comes down to several factors, such as motor winding design, inverter current capacity, and software calibration, all of which can significantly shape the torque curve. Still, with a motor of that size, you would normally expect the B10 to produce more torque and offer a stronger off-the-line punch.

Moving on, the difference extends to the battery as well. The B10 packs a 67 kWh LFP battery, which translates to a 460 km WLTP range, compared to the 405 km WLTP range on the S05.

Interestingly, both vehicles share a common background. Each one is essentially the younger sibling of an already established SUV in Nepal. The B10 corresponds to the Leapmotor C10, while the S05 draws its roots from the Deepal S07. The resemblance is more pronounced in the S05, as it visibly borrows design and interior cues from the S07. The B10, on the other hand, sets itself apart from the C10 with its smaller wheelbase. This familiarity, however, can work in their favor, as both the C10 and S07 are among the most successful EV SUVs in the Nepali market.

Another aspect is the features that are marketed pretty heavily by the brand. But when it comes to features, I usually avoid making judgments unless they genuinely enhance the driving experience. And in that respect, the S05 does feel better equipped.

It offers an AR Head-Up Display, a more comprehensive infotainment system, e-SIM Connectivity, and even remote control functionality to move the car in and out of tight spaces.

And these features are something that makes everyday use noticeably easier.

On top of that, the S05 interior carries a premium feel that is slightly better executed than what the B10 offers. This isn’t surprising, as Deepal’s S series has always emphasized quality interiors, a trait passed down from the S07.

And, finally, there is the price. The S05 holds the advantage here by being more affordable than the B10. However, the B10 justifies its higher cost with stronger performance and a longer range. And if we take a step back, the fact that the S07 managed just fine in Nepal with the same 99 kW motor shows that the S05 should be no different in real-world usability.
