Best Bikes Under 3 Lakhs in Nepal

#1. TVS Apache RTR 160 4V

Let’s start with the Number 1 on this list: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

TVS has successfully pulled off hits after hits: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, TVS NTorq 125, and TVS Radeon.

Among those hits, I believe that TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is the greatest hit! It practically comes with everything a rider wants, needs or might need.Anyways, Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by a single-cylinder (4V) carbureted engine with 159.7cc displacement. Moreover, it produces max torque output of 16.4PS at 8000rpm and max power of 14.7Nm at 6500rpm. By the way, the powertrain number is the highest in its segment.

Apache RTR 160 4V gets the same design language as the bigger RTR 200 4V. Moreover, it comes with the same Double Cradle Split Synchro STIFF chassis, fuel tank capacity, and Oil Cooled Engine with Air Assist. However, there are a few differences between the two. Typically, you get a yellow-lit instrument cluster (minus a gear position indicator), a smaller suspension setup, and a single-piece seat.

Why did I include it on this list?

If you are paying attention to the performance numbers, RTR 160 4V offers the best-in-class performance! Couple that with the multi-function instrument cluster, double-barrel gun exhaust, peppy pickup, comfortable seat, and awesome design… Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!

TVS has worked hard on this motorcycle, and their hard work has paid off! The engine is super smooth with drastically minimized vibrations. Plus, the bass-heavy exhaust is simply lit! Moreover, it offers decent mileage without compromise in the overall build. Furthermore, it can handle occasional off-roading and rough riding.

Is TVS Apache RTR 160 4V really perfect? For the most part, yes. But there are few points stopping it from being truly unstoppable.

It does not come with a Single-Channel ABS nor a Fuel-Injection system. But that’s just for the Nepali market. TVS has already launched the ABS variant alongside the FI variant in India. So, it is just a matter of time before it comes to Nepal.

Rest assured, when TVS Apache RTR 4V comes with the ABS and FI update, it will be truly unstoppable!

If you have been following the news, you already know about Suzuki Gixxer 155.It is an update to the Gixxer lineup which brought in some new changes. Frankly, the new changes were drastic, generating both awesome and controversial responses from the public. However, it’s not about the Suzuki Gixxer (2019) rather Suzuki Gixxer (2018).

Other than that, you also get Rear-Disc brake, robust engine, all-digital instrument cluster, and 7-step adjustable rear mono-shock.

Why did I include it on this list?

Suzuki Gixxer 2018 has so much to offer for the price. Moreover, it is simply unbelievable to process the overall asking price! Furthermore, it comes with a reliable engine, informative instrument cluster, dual chrome-plated exhaust partnered with equally awesome performance. Plus, the cornering and handling are next to none! Interestingly, all good stuff has been carried over to the 2019 model.

So, how much Suzuki is asking for it? Suzuki Gixxer (2018) price starts at Rs. 2.79.900! I know, right? The asking price is ridiculous! Honestly, I’m quite surprised that people aren’t jumping on this opportunity.

Considering everything, it would be best to choose the one with Dual Disc braking. That’s practically a steal! However, if you are inching towards the one with the ABS update, might I suggest an alternative? Add few more bucks, buy the Suzuki Gixxer (2019).

Yamaha FZS-FI v2.0 (Dual Disc)

Yamaha FZS-FI v2.0 is something that offers the best of both worlds aka fuel efficiency and performance. Perhaps that’s why it sits comfortably at Number 3 for best bikes under 3 lakhs in Nepal.

Many years ago, Yamaha introduced it as FZ 16 aka “Lord of the Streets”. However, it was renamed to Yamaha FZS-FI v2.0 for next-gen models.

Anyways, Yamaha FZS-FI v2.0 still has a great fan-following in Nepal and India. So, Yamaha didn’t want the hype to slow down! In hopes to continue that fan-following, Yamaha recently launched the next-gen model aka FZS-FI v3.0. Moreover, it comes with an upgraded design topped with a single-channel ABS update.yamaha fzs fi v2 price nepal

Unfortunately, version 3.0 is priced above Rs. 3 Lakhs mark, and we are looking for something under that mark. So, that brings us to FZS-FI v 2.0, which already offers something more unique. Don’t worry, we’ll get to that in a moment.

Starting with Yamaha FZS FI v2.0, it is powered by a 149cc engine. By the way, it is a single-cylinder, SOHC FI engine! Moreover, it can generate up to 13.2 BHP of max power and 12.8 Nm of max torque. Furthermore, it has a 5-speed gearbox, 12-liter fuel tank, an all-digital instrument cluster, etc. like the rest of the bikes on this list.

Comparing with the rest of the bikes, the powertrain is less. However, riding it in real-world scenarios, you won’t feel much of a difference.

Why did I include it on this list?

What was Yamaha’s unique offering? Fuel Injection engine! Well, Yamaha FZS-FI v2.0 is the only motorcycle, priced under 3 Lakhs, that comes with a Fuel-Injection system! Plus, it comes with Yamaha’s patented Blue Core Engine, which offers a durable engine with linear power delivery. That’s like the icing on the cake!

SEE ALSO: Yamaha Bikes Price in Nepal

On the other hand, Yamaha FZS-FI v3.0 shares the same engine! That’s right! Yamaha didn’t make any changes to the engine for the 2019 update.

So, what happens if you choose FZS-FI v2.0 over FZS-FI v3.0?

You get the same performance minus the controversial design. Plus, it is a lot more affordable as well! Although, you do miss out on the ABS update. But you can kind of get the next best thing: the Dual Disc braking. While it is not as good as ABS, but it does give you an equally improved braking performance.

Yamaha FZS FI Key Specifications

  • Engine Displacement: 149 cc
  • Mileage (city): 50 kmpl

Honda CB Unicorn

Coming up on Number 4, we have yet another commuter-oriented motorcycle: Honda CB Unicorn.

CB Unicorn can be defined as a perfect mix of ‘Commuter x Style’. Would it be too far to call it a work of art? Plus, it does not compromise on performance!Anyways, it is powered by a 162.7cc air-cooled engine. Moreover, it can generate a max power of 13.82BHP at 8000rpm and max torque of 13.92Nm at 6000rpm. Compared to the others on this list, it isn’t all that different.

You get a standard 5-speed manual transmission, 12-liter fuel tank, rear monoshock suspension, all-digital instrument cluster, etc. However, you do miss out on Dual Disc braking. Fundamentally, you get a standard front disc along with a rear drum brake. If you are a commuter, this shouldn’t be such a big issue.

Why did I include it on this list?

Basically, you get a commuter motorcycle… which does not look like a commuter motorcycle. Confused? Imagine the sportiness of Bajaj Pulsar 150 meets the robustness of the Honda engine. That’s like a dream motorcycle!

I think some of us are exclusively looking for a motorcycle to fit in that category. Anyways, what makes CB Unicorn so special?

SEE ALSO: Honda Bikes Price in Nepal

Obviously, the price! Honestly, it is very rare to see a 160cc motorcycle offered at an affordable price. Fortunately, Honda CB Unicorn is a 160cc motorcycle offered at an affordable price. Moreover, it does not cut corners!

Let me summarize it for you! You get Honda motorcycle powered by a 160cc engine. Furthermore, it offers good performance with a satisfying number of features. You get all that for Rs. 2.74.900!?!

  • Kerb Weight(kg): 134kg

Honda CB Unicorn Price in Nepal: Rs. 2,74,900

Pros Cons
Good Mileage for 160cc Segment No Engine Kill Switch!
Good Design

Writer’s Note: I would’ve included Honda Hornet 160R for the Number 4 position in this list of best motorcycle under 3 lakhs in Nepal. Unfortunately, Honda Hornet is currently priced at Rs. 3,03,900. Unfortunately, this goes against the “under 3 Lakhs condition”. However, there is a chance that you find a Honda Hornet with a price tag under 3 Lakhs at the nearest Honda Showroom.

If you do find that one, I’d recommend that over the CB Unicorn. You get a much more powerful motorcycle without losing out on the commuter factor. Besides, the pickup offering on that is sure to enthrall you!

Bajaj Pulsar 150 (TD)

So, we finally arrive at Number 5!

Pulsar 150 has changed the market trend ever since its debut, right? Yes, it completely changed the industry with more focus on performance over everything else. After all these years, the Bajaj Pulsar series is still one of the bestselling sports bikes in Nepal.Starting with Bajaj Pulsar 150 TD, it is powered by a four-stroke DTS-i engine with 149.5cc displacement. Furthermore, it can generate a max power of 14Ps at 8000rpm and max torque of 13.4Nm at 6000rpm.

Moreover, you get a twin-disc braking system, new split-seats, a larger rear tire, a blue-lit instrument console, and thicker front forks. Plus, you also get a large emphasis on sportiness with the engine cowl and redesigned graphics!

Why did I include it on the list?

Bajaj Pulsar 150 has always been a go-to bike for sporty looks with good performance at an affordable price. When compared to other bikes on this list, Bajaj Pulsar 150 is the most affordable one with few perks up its sleeves.

Talking about the power train numbers, Pulsar 150 is comparable with the others on this list. Interestingly, it even beats out Yamaha FZS-FI with a small margin on the powertrain. However, the Pulsar 150 is lacking in some aspects (lack of FI engine, all-digital instrument cluster, monoshock suspension, etc.)

But it makes up for that! How? After-sales Service.

Every bike needs to be serviced. Yes, you do get FREE Service, but that ends eventually. Before you know it, you start paying for an oil change, a tire change, clutch plates, air filter, etc. Honestly, the cost adds up. Fortunately, Bajaj offers affordable service, especially on Pulsar 150.

So, you get an excellent hassle-free after-sales experience with Bajaj Pulsar 150. Moreover, it gives you a reliable 150cc engine and a huge 15-liter fuel tank motorcycle, all at an affordable price.

Bajaj Pulsar 150 TD Specifications

  • Mileage: 45kmpl
  • Max Power: 14 PS @ 8000rpm

  • No. of gears: 5
  • Fuel tank: 15L
  • Kerb Weight(kg): ‎144

Bajaj Pulsar 150  Price in Nepal (Standard): Rs. 2,53,900

Bajaj Pulsar 150 Price in Nepal (TD): Rs. 2,64,900

Pros Cons
Massive 15-liter fuel tank! No major changes in terms of performance
Updated design and new color scheme Still comes with the outdated instrument cluster
Excellent after-sales experience

Writer’s Note: I didn’t include Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 on this list. Why? Unfortunately, NS 160 isn’t as popular as its bigger sibling aka NS 200, especially in Nepal. Moreover, Bajaj Nepal doesn’t advertise it as much as they do with Pulsar 150 TD or Pulsar NS 200. Going by the lack of popularity, Bajaj might even discontinue its sale in Nepal (might just a rumor). So, it’s better to choose Pulsar 150 TD over NS 160.
