Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 Overview

Design

The 2023 ROG Zephyrus M16 is the first time Asus has featured its AniMe Matrix on the M16 series. For models that don’t feature AniMe Matrix, the perforations are covered with a monochrome film.

The laptop also features Asus’s ErgoLift hinge and Asus has redesigned the exhaust vent for the 2023 model with the v-cut hinge being adjusted to reduce hot air being blown directly onto the display. The nameplate has also been changed to implement nano-imprint lithography which gives it a more radiant holographic hue.

Asus has a 7-heatpipe design with Thermal Grizzly’s liquid metal compound to pull heat away from all important components. The laptop features a full-width heatsink with 319 fins and Asus’s tri-fan technology.

Display

The M16 has a 16-inch QHD+ 2560 x 1600 IPS display. The 240Hz display with 3ms of response time and 100% DCI-P3 coverage has all the makings of a top-class display, at least on paper.

The laptop has a MUX switch to bypass the iGPU and increase performance by 5 to 10%, Asus claims. The 8GB RTX 4070 GPU can boost up to 2030MHz at 140W.

The laptop has Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax), with Bluetooth v5.3. It also features all standard ports including USB-A, USB-C, Thunderbolt 4, and HDMI 2.1. Asus has not provided an RJ45 port which may come as a disappointment to LAN users.
