Asus ROG Strix G18 Overview

Design

The ROG Strix G18 comes with colored accents and also features a “paint specking pattern” right above the rear exhaust ports. Asus has redesigned the chassis and the motherboard to insert their full-width heatsink.

The ROG Strix G18 features a triple fan cooling technology with 7 heat pipes. Asus has used Thermal Grizzly’s Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal for the thermal paste. There are small vents around the WASD keys to let the fans draw cool air into the chassis from above.

Display

The laptop comes with an 18-inch FHD+ 1920 x 1200 WUXGA IPS display. It is a 16:10 aspect ratio display and has a refresh rate of 165Hz and Asus has claimed a response time of 7ms.

It is an Anti-glare display with 100% sRGB. The display also features G-sync and has support for Dolby Vision HDR.

Hardware and Connectivity

Intel’s 13th gen processors power the ROG Strix G18. You can get the laptop with Intel’s i9-13980HX. The i9-13980HX is a 24-core processor (8P + 16E) that boosts up to 5.6GHz.

Paired with the processors is Nvidia’s 4000 series GPU, the RTX 4070. The 8GB RTX 4070 GPU can boost up to 2225MHz at 140W. Asus has included a MUX switch, which bypasses the iGPU, sending frames directly from the dedicated high-performance GPU to the display, which increases the performance of the laptop.

The laptop has Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) with Bluetooth v5.3. The laptop also has two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port which supports display out and power delivery. It also features an HDMI 2.1 port with FRL, RJ45 LAN, and a Thunderbolt 4 port that also has Display support.
