Asus ROG Strix G16 Overview

Design

The ROG Strix G16 comes in a grey body with subtle detailing to their pixel art accents which have been redesigned for 2023. The laptop has colored accents and also features a “paint specking pattern” right above the rear exhaust ports.

The ROG Strix G16 features a triple fan cooling technology in a chassis that has been redesigned by Asus to accommodate their new full-width heatsink. Overall the laptop provides a stealthy look with some game accents here and there.

Display

The laptop comes with a 16-inch FHD+ 1920 x 1200 IPS display. It is a 16:10 aspect ratio display with a refresh rate of 165Hz and a response time of 7ms.

It is an Anti-glare display with 100% sRGB and 75.35% AdobeRGB coverage. The display also features G-sync and has support for Dolby Vision HDR.

Hardware and Connectivity

The ROG Strix G16 is powered by Intel’s 13th gen processors. You can get the laptop with either an i7-13650HX or an i9-13980HX. The i7-13650HX is a 14-core processor (6P + 8E) that boosts up to 4.9GHz and the i9-13980HX is a 24-core processor (8P + 16E) that boosts up to a blazing 5.6GHz.

Paired with these two processors are the Nvidia RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 respectively. Asus has included a MUX switch, which bypasses the iGPU and connects directly to the dedicated high-performance GPU, to unlock the full performance of the laptop.

The RTX 4060 GPU can boost up to 2420MHz at 140W and the RTX 4070 GPU can boost up to 2225MHz at 140W. Both GPUs feature 8GB DDR6 memory.

The laptop has Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) with Bluetooth v5.3. The laptop also has two USB-A ports and a USB-C port which supports display out and can be used to charge the laptop as well. It also comes with HDMI 2.1, RJ45 LAN, and a Thunderbolt 4 port that also has Display support.

Battery

The Strix G16 comes with a 4-cell Li-ion 90Wh battery. The USB-C port has support for up to 100W charging (USB-C Charger sold separately) and Asus have claimed a 50% charge in 30 minutes when charged with the 330W power adapter.
