Apple Quietly Raises MacBook Pro M5 Price by Up to Rs. 57,500

With the introduction of the M5 chip back in October 2025, Apple refreshed three of its products: the iPad Pro, Vision Pro, and the MacBook Pro. Of the three, only the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro made their way to Nepal and have already gotten a major price hike.

Last year, the MacBook Air stood out as one of Apple’s best-value laptops, especially after getting the M4 chip. Now, its successor, the more powerful M5, has made its way into the Pro lineup.

What is the Price of the Apple MacBook Pro 14 in Nepal?

The Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M5 price in Nepal now starts at Rs. 3,76,500 for the 16GB/1TB variant and Rs. 4,15,000 for the 24GB/1TB model. Unfortunately, the base 16GB/512GB variant, which originally retailed for Rs. 2,79,500, has sold out and has yet to be restocked.

Apple has, however, introduced a new 32GB/1TB configuration priced at Rs. 4,63,500. Compared to the previous pricing of Rs. 3,19,000 (16GB/1TB) and Rs. 3,59,000 (24GB/1TB), that’s a massive bump of Rs. 56,000 and Rs. 57,500, respectively.

The new pricing is now in effect across Apple-authorized retailers, including EvoStore and Oliz Store.

Thankfully, there’s still a small window to avoid the hike. EvoStore is continuing to sell the MacBook Pro at the previous pricing until its remaining inventory runs out. The offer is limited to one unit per customer, so if you’ve been planning to upgrade, it’s worth making the purchase sooner rather than later. To sweeten the deal, EvoStore is also bundling a complimentary 1-year SHIELD extended warranty with every eligible purchase.

The MacBook Pro has always been designed for power users, and it can handle almost anything you throw at it. It offers active cooling, sustained performance, a higher-quality display, and more ports than the Air counterpart, making it ideal for heavy workloads.

But compared to the MacBook Pro M4, is there any real upgrade in the M5 version, or is it more of the same? Let’s dive in and find out.

Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch Overview

The M5-powered MacBook Pro 14-inch visually is identical to last year’s model, so if you liked the previous-gen look and feel, this one will feel right at home.

Up front, the 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display offers a crisp 3024 x 1964 resolution with ProMotion 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The screen gets impressively bright, delivering up to 1000 nits for normal content and peaking at 1600 nits for HDR.

Usually, the MacBook Pro also comes with a 16-inch screen. Sadly, the M5 variant only comes in the 14-inch form factor.

Under the hood, the new M5 chip powers the whole thing with a 10-core CPU (split into 4 performance and 6 efficiency cores), a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

Apple claims the M5 is up to six times faster in AI performance compared to the M1 and three times faster than the M1 Pro. Now, comparing a chip to its four-year-old counterpart may sound a little dramatic, but considering how well the M1 still holds up today, the leap here does start to look pretty meaningful.

As compared to the M4 MacBook Pro, the M5 MacBook is 1.8x faster in Topaz Video, and 1.7x faster in 3D rendering in Blender. The M5 MacBook also delivers 1.6x better FPS in games and 1.2x faster performance in code compilation. Coming to the CPU, the Apple M5 offers up to 20% faster multi-threaded performance vs the M4. And Apple says the M5 features the “world’s fastest CPU core.”

On the memory side, Apple keeps things simple: the MacBook Pro M5 comes in three memory configurations, 16GB, 24GB or 32GB. All 16GB, 24GB, and 32GB models is paired with 1TB of storage.

This is where we see a major upgrade. The MacBook Pro finally moves from PCIe 3 to PCIe 4 storage. It does feel a bit late, especially since PCIe 5 is already available on other devices, but Apple tends to move at its own pace.

Besides, Apple says the new base 14-inch MacBook Pro offers up to 2× faster SSD performance than the previous model, so read and write speeds will be improved. Memory bandwidth has increased from 120GB/s to 153GB/s.

In terms of I/O, you get a MagSafe charging port, 3x Thunderbolt 4 ports, 1x HDMI, a SDXC card slot, and a headphone jack. Wireless connectivity remains capped at Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

Finally, the MacBook Pro packs a 72.4Wh cell. According to Apple, you can expect up to 24 hours of video playback or around 16 hours of wireless web browsing.

So that was the MacBook Pro M5. Compared to its predecessor, the MacBook Pro M4, there doesn’t seem to be much of an upgrade. The MacBook Pro M4 already offered excellent performance while being highly efficient, and the M5 doesn’t feel like a true generational leap.

However, compared to other laptops on the market, the MacBook Pro M5 stands out, both in terms of performance and overall user experience.
