Apple’s New 15-inch MacBook Air with M2 Chip Launched in Nepal

The new 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 Chip, which was introduced by Apple on June 5, 2023, is now available for purchase in Nepal.

The Apple MacBook Air series is the most popular lineup of MacBooks. However, the recent MacBooks were only available with a 13-inch screen, which was too small for many people.

As a result, Apple launched the new 15-inch Apple MacBook Air. This is also the only 15-inch MacBook that Apple currently sells.

The new 15-inch MacBook Air is almost exactly the same as the 13-inch MacBook Air. Apart from the screen size and battery capacity, the only key differences are that the 15-inch model has a better sound system and starts with a 10-core GPU that comes with 35W dual USB-C port compact power adapter.

Apple MacBook Air 15 M2 Overview

Design

The Apple MacBook Air 15 M2 (2023) is just the larger Apple MacBook Air 13 M2 (2022). Otherwise, it maintains the familiar design language with a flat, all-aluminum unibody chassis.

Measuring just 11.5mm in thickness, the MacBook Air 15 2023, according to Apple, is declared the thinnest 15-inch laptop in the world. Additionally, it weighs only 1.51kg, making it extremely lightweight and easy to carry.

Apart from these specifications, the 15-inch MacBook Air shares the same features as the 13-inch model. It includes MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack that supports high-impedance headphones.

The laptop is available in four finishes: midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver. It retains its fanless design and features a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and a Force Touch trackpad.

Display

The new 2023 MacBook Air features a larger 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display (IPS LCD). It has a resolution of 2880 x 1864 pixels, resulting in 224 pixels per inch, making it equally sharp as the 13-inch 2022 MacBook Air.

The remaining display features remain unchanged. It includes a notch for the camera and microphone — still no Face ID. The display can reach up to 500 nits of brightness and supports 1 billion colors.

Hardware

The MacBook Air 15 is powered by an M2 chip, the second generation of Apple’s M series SoC. The M2 chip is built on a 5nm technology with over 20 billion transistors.

This same powerful chipset also powers the 13-inch MacBook Air. However, there is a notable difference in the GPU configuration. While the base variant of the 13-inch MacBook Air M2 features an 8-core GPU, all 15-inch models come with a 10-core GPU.

Additionally, the M2 delivers 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and features an 8-core CPU with four performance cores and four efficiency cores and a 16-core Neural Engine.

Users can also configure the MacBook Air to have 8GB, 16GB, or 24GB of unified memory and 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of SSD. This MacBook Air also retains its 1080p FaceTime HD camera with a three-microphone array.

An exciting upgrade in the MacBook Air 15 2023 is the inclusion of a six-speaker sound system featuring two tweeters and two sets of force-canceling woofers, surpassing the four-speaker setup of the MacBook Air 13 M2.

Battery

Thanks to its larger body, the MacBook Air 15 M2 also comes with a larger 66.5Wh battery. Apple claims that it gives up to 18 hours of video playback.

The base model of the 13-inch MacBook Air M2 came with a 30W power adapter. However, all variants of the Apple MacBook Air 15 include a 35W dual USB-C port compact power adapter.

It’s worth noting that when the 13-inch MacBook Air was initially released, Apple recommended purchasing the 67W adapter for fast charging. However, the company has now discontinued the sale of this specific charger. Instead, Apple currently offers 70W USB-C power adapters.

Apple MacBook Air 15 M2 price in Nepal is Rs. 2,05,000 (8/256GB. The laptop is available for purchase at Infotechs Nepal.

The MacBook Air 15 M2 is the 15-inch variant of 2022’s 13-inch MacBook Air. The laptop is powered by an M2 chip with a 10-core GPU and supports up to 24GB of unified memory.

All MacBook Air 15 now comes with 35W dual USB-C compact power adapter. Additionally, the larger form factor of the 15-inch model enabled Apple to have a six-speaker sound system.
