Mac Mini M2 and M2 Pro Launching Soon in Nepal

The new Mac mini lineup for 2023 powered by M2 and the all-new M2 Pro are expected to be available for purchase in Nepal soon. GenXT, Apple’s authorized distributor in Nepal, said that the computer is scheduled to come into the country in the next 2–3 weeks.

Ahead of its launch, Oliz Store has already listed the products for pre-order on its website.

The Mac mini M2 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,02,000 for the 8/256GB, Gigabit model and Rs. 1,35,000 for the 8/512GB, Gigabit model. The Mac mini M2 Pro price in Nepal is Rs. 2,17,000 for the 16/512GB, Gigabit model.

The Mac mini 2023 was unveiled by Apple in January 2023, along with the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro featuring M2 Pro and M2 Max.

Design and Ports

From the outside, the new Mac mini looks the same as before with its old, simple, compact, minimal, all-aluminum boxy chassis.

Both the M2 and M2 Pro-powered Mac minis have the same dimensions of 19.70cm x 19.70cm x 3.58cm. However, the M2 Pro Mac mini is slightly heavier, weighing in at 1.28kg compared to the 1.18kg M2 Mac mini.

The Mac mini has an extensive range of ports. The M2 model features two Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for up to two displays. The M2 Pro model includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for up to three displays. Additionally, the M2 Pro model can support one 8K display, a first for the Mac.

Both models feature two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet port with a 10GB option, and an upgraded headphone jack to support high-impedance headphones.

Hardware

The Mac mini comes with either an M2 chip or an M2 Pro chip, both built on a 5nm technology. The M2 chip was first seen in the MacBook Air 2022 and MacBook Pro 13-inch 2022.

Mac mini with M2 features an 8-core CPU with four high-performance and four high-efficiency cores, along with a 10-core GPU, paired with up to 24GB of unified memory and 100GB/s of bandwidth.

Apple says it is up to 50 percent faster in Adobe Photoshop compared to previous Mac Mini M1. Additionally, M2 enables the device to have ProRes acceleration, making video editing in Final Cut Pro more than twice as fast.

This year, Apple brings the Pro chip to the Mac mini. Featuring up to a 12-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, along with up to a 19-core GPU, M2 Pro has 200GB/s of memory bandwidth — double the amount in M2 — and supports up to 32GB of memory.

Connectivity and OS

For wireless connectivity, both new models also feature the latest standards with Wi-Fi 6E as well as Bluetooth 5.3.

Furthermore, the Mac Mini M1 runs on macOS Ventura.
