In what can only be described as a pivotal leap for TVS Motor Company, it is finally entering the adventure motorcycle arena with the all-new Apache RTX 300. Drawing on years of grit from the unforgiving Dakar Rally, TVS has translated it into a production-ready ADV built for the masses. And it is expected to make its way to Nepal as early as next year.
Back in January 2025, during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the term “Baby Africa Twin” started circulating, and this nickname immediately sparked curiosity among motorcycle enthusiasts. If you’ve heard of the legendary Honda Africa Twin, you’ll understand the weight that name carries. It’s a symbol of endurance and adventure, and from the looks of it, TVS has taken clear inspiration from that legacy while crafting the RTX 300.
So, what makes this bike such a big deal? For starters, TVS has moved on from the familiar 310cc engine co-developed with BMW Motorrad, which was the same one powering the Apache RR 310 and RTR 310. Instead, the RTX 300 debuts a brand-new 299.1cc engine built on the RT-XD4 platform, signaling a complete in-house overhaul.
Some might see the arrival of the RTX 300 as a surprising move, but TVS seems confident about where the ADV market is headed in India, quantitatively a 25% annual grow projection.

Design
The TVS Apache RTX 300 is designed around the bold philosophy of “Explore, Endure, and Elevate,” and it wears that spirit proudly in every curve and contour.
Up front, it immediately grabs attention with its twin Class-D symmetric LED projectors framed by sharp, angular DRLs that form an unmistakable eye-shaped gaze. Sitting right above is a tall transparent windscreen, rising from a semi-faired cowl that’s crafted to deflect wind during high-speed rides and long highway stretches.
Adding to its striking stance, the front suspension gets golden accents, beautifully complementing the bike’s tall and rugged posture.
From the side, the trellis frame stands proudly exposed, paired with a die-cast aluminum swingarm that reflects both strength and refinement. The 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels are wrapped in dual-purpose block-pattern tires, ready to tackle both tarmac and trail. With its 200 mm ground clearance, the engine sits high and confident, hinting that it is built for some tricky roads.
Move toward the rear, and the design concludes with a perfectly symmetrical convergence. The stout exhaust outlet looks like a gun barrel, while the compact LED taillight ties the design together with a clean finish.
Instrument Cluster
Crowning the cockpit is a 5-inch Full-color TFT instrument cluster, the digital command center of the Apache RTX 300. It’s equipped with TVS SmartXonnect, which brings turn-by-turn navigation via map mirroring, call and SMS alerts, ride analytics, and even GoPro control right to your fingertips.
Riders can easily navigate the interface using the scroll-wheel controller on the left handlebar, which provides direct access to essential ride information. The display integrates with the bike’s myriad electronic aids in a neat and fashionable way showing four ride modes (Urban, Rain, Tour, and Rally), dual-level traction control, cruise control speed, bi-directional quickshifter prompts, and even wheelie mitigation alerts.
However, while the TFT display comes standard across all variants, the SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity is reserved exclusively for the Top and BTO variants.
Performance
The TVS Apache RTX 300 runs on a 291.1cc, Single-Cylinder, Liquid Cooled, 4-valve, DOHC engine. It can produce a max power of 36 PS at 9000 RPM and a max torque of 28.5 Nm at 7000 RPM. Moreover, it is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox featuring Assist and Slipper Clutch.
But you won’t even need to touch that clutch too often. The RTX 300 features a Bi-Directional Quickshifter, letting you shift gears both up and down without rolling off the throttle or squeezing the clutch.
Adding to that thrill is the Ride-By-Wire throttle system, which replaces the traditional cable with electronic sensors for precise throttle control. This delivers a smoother and more refined throttle response but also allows the integration of advanced features like riding modes, traction control, and even cruise control.
Speaking of riding modes, TVS has packed in four of them: Urban, Rain, Tour, and Rally. If there’s one area that feels a bit modest, it’s the 12.5-liter fuel tank. For an adventure bike, it could’ve been larger.
Additional Details
41mm WP Inverted Cartridge Forks and Preload Adjustable Monoshock with Floating Piston handles the suspension duties. And, both of these suspension have 180 mm of travel distance.
The dimensions are 2176 mm in length, 885 mm in width, and 1400 mm in height. Moreover, the wheelbase is 1430 mm.
The ground clearance for the Apache RTX 300 is an impressive 200 mm while the seat height is quite tall at 835 mm. It comes with Dual-Channel ABS with a switchable setting for the rear wheel.
And, the kerb weight of the bike is 180 kg which is lightweight considering it is an ADV bike.

Rivals
There’s no denying it, the TVS Apache RTX 300 is stepping into the ADV arena with serious intent. But it’s not alone. Its fiercest rival is none other than the KTM Adventure 250, which is a machine crafted by a brand that practically lives and breathes rally DNA. After all, KTM’s Dakar-winning pedigree gives it an unshakable edge in designing purpose-built adventure motorcycles.
These two ADVs differ slightly in displacement, so the RTX 300 holds the upper hand in pure performance figures, delivering a noticeable punch over the Adventure 250. Both bikes, however, are impressively kitted out with modern electronics spanning from quickshifter and switchable dual-channel ABS to slipper clutch, ride-by-wire throttle, and a crisp 5-inch TFT display. Yet, the RTX 300 sweetens the deal further with Cruise Control, which is a feature the Adventure 250 skips entirely.
On the flip side, the KTM Adventure 250 claws back with a bigger 14.5-liter fuel tank, giving it a longer touring range compared to the RTX’s 12.5 liters. Ergonomically, both motorcycles stay true to their adventure roots, offering tall, upright riding positions designed for comfort and control.
For riders seriously eyeing an adventure companion, the TVS Apache RTX 300 looks like the more practical pick, especially if TVS delivers on its promise of aggressive pricing. Meanwhile, the KTM Adventure 250 continues to command its usual premium, priced at Rs. 7.50 lakhs.
