Hansraj Hulaschand & Co., the authorized distributor of Bajaj motorcycles in Nepal, has opened bookings for the updated Dominar 400. It continues to be the most expensive, most powerful, and heaviest motorcycle in Bajaj’s lineup.

The latest updates serve to make the Dominar feel more modern and better equipped. These changes are not exclusive to the Dominar. Bajaj has carried over features first seen on the Pulsar NS400 Z, so much of the updated equipment will feel familiar rather than groundbreaking. Despite this, its core highway-touring DNA remains intact, with touring accessories still offered as standard.

The latest update brings in features such as Adjustable Levers, Ride Modes, Traction Control, Ride-by-Wire, and a fully Digital Instrument Cluster with Connectivity. It also continues to offer factory-fitted touring accessories as standard, including a Leg Guard, Engine Bash Plate, Carrier, Back Stopper, Tall Visor, and Navigation Stay.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Overview

Design

The Bajaj Dominar continues to embrace its power-cruiser identity, combining muscular proportions with a clear focus on touring. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the design prioritises road presence and maturity over flashy styling.

Up front, the signature Mosaic LED headlamp remains, giving the bike a wide and purposeful stance. The factory-fitted tall visor adds to its touring appeal, while the adjustable levers and a slightly revised handlebar setup improve long-distance ergonomics, further supported by handguards. The chunky USD front forks and wide front tyre reinforce the Dominar’s heavyweight character.

From the side, the Dominar looks unmistakably muscular. The large sculpted fuel tank is defined by sharp creases and a strong shoulder line. A long wheelbase, thick steel swingarm, and upswept dual-port exhaust contribute to its stable and confident highway behaviour. The machined alloy wheels keep things clean and understated, reinforcing the bike’s focus on strength and balance over visual drama.

The rear section is relatively compact compared to the front and midsection. A sleek LED taillamp is neatly integrated under the tail cowl, accompanied by practical touring additions such as the Back Stopper and Carrier Rack. The design avoids unnecessary complexity, staying true to the Dominar’s no-nonsense touring intent. Moreover, the Dominar 400 is available in Charcoal Black and Aurora Green color options.

The most significant update is the new color LCD console with a Dot-Matrix display. It is the same unit as seen in the NS400Z. It now supports Bluetooth connectivity with features such as turn-by-turn navigation, call and message alerts, music controls, a lap timer, and more.

Performance

Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3cc, Single-Cylinder, Liquid-cooled, FI engine. It can generate a max power of 40 PS at 8800rpm and a max torque of 35 Nm at 6500rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch, and it is supported by a 13-litre fuel tank for long-distance touring.

There are no changes to the Dominar’s core mechanicals or performance figures. It continues to use the same 373cc DOHC engine, but the electronic package has been significantly updated.

The biggest upgrade is the introduction of an electronic throttle body with Ride-by-Wire, replacing the earlier cable-operated setup. This works together with Traction Control to enable four riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport, and Off-Road. Each mode adjusts throttle response and ABS intervention to better suit different riding conditions, making the Dominar more adaptable in real-world use.

Rivals

Bajaj Dominar 400 rivals the Bajaj Pulsar NS 400Z.

Both the Dominar 400 and Pulsar NS400Z use the same KTM-derived 373cc engine and produce identical performance figures. The difference lies in intent. The Dominar is geared for highway touring with its 15/45T sprocket, prioritizing stability and relaxed cruising. The NS400Z, with a 15/46T setup, leans toward stronger low-end and mid-range punch, fitting its streetfighter character.

That contrast is amplified by weight. The NS400Z is nearly 19 kg lighter, which makes it feel quicker, more responsive, and far better in terms of power-to-weight ratio. While the Dominar remains the better choice for long-distance touring, the NS400Z is simply more versatile for everyday riding.

What seals the deal is price. While both the NS400Z and Dominar 400 get the same modern features, there is a price difference of almost Rs. 59,000. At that point, the choice becomes fairly straightforward.
