The pre-order for the new Samsung S10 phones is already live. Huawei is saying it will be unveiling the P30 in late March. There are plenty of phones to get excited about right now. But there’s one phone in particular that gets most Android fans’ heart racing. It’s the OnePlus 7.
OnePlus 7 is the update to the excellent OnePlus 6T last year. The OnePlus 6T phone started from $550 but was so good that it got the best overall phone from MKBHD beating phones like iPhone XS Max, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and the Galaxy Note 9 in the process. Despite its relatively cheaper price, it was the fastest android phone on the market of 2018. It still holds that title. It was also one of the leading contenders for our best premium smartphone awards, people’s choice edition.
Naturally, people will be excited about the next iteration of a phone like that. And we already know a little how this phone will look and what the internal specs will be. But, mind you, it’s little.
Display
There haven’t been many rumors about the resolution of OnePlus 7’s display. But we can expect a similar FHD+ AMOLED screen that we saw with the OnePlus 6T. OnePlus doesn’t need to step up the quality of its display, they have been fine and no one complains about them. But they will be changing something about the display other than the quality – the notch.
We have seen some leaked images of the OnePlus 7 and it looks like One Plus 7 will do away with the notch completely. According to the leaked images, OnePlus 7 will employ a sliding camera mechanism similarly to the one found on the phones like the Vivo Nex. This means the front of the phone will be all-screen (nearly).
This may make the phone look good but it remains to be seen if the sliding mechanism will last as long as people tend to use their phones, that is at least 2 years. Also, the OnePlus 6T was splashproof. Will OnePlus 7 still be splashproof with this new design. We will only know about it once the phone launches officially.
The cameras
The other aspect of the phone that the leaks have revealed are the cameras. It looks like there will be 3 rear cameras at the back in this year’s OnePlus 7. Having triple rear cameras looks like the new trend of 2019. The specifications of the cameras haven’t been revealed yet but as OnePlus uses Sony sensors in their cameras, the new 48MP sensor may show its face here.
The battery
We hare hearing that OnePlus 7 may come with a battery larger than 4000mAh. The battery life on the OnePlus 6T was already a full day battery life and better than the flagship phones (except for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro). This enlargement will give it some more juice.
We will also probably see the warp charge technology enabled charger in the box of the One Plus 7. This was the same super-fast charger that OnePlus used as a selling point for the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition.
Other internals
It’s a no-brainer that OnePlus 7 will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor that promises 45% CPU performance boost and about 20% GPU performance boost over the Snapdragon 845. It will be interesting to see how fast will the OnePlus 7 be than the OnePlus 6T.
Miscellaneous
We don’t have any information on the storage and RAM capacity yet. Of course, we don’t know shit about the pricing. And, we don’t know whether OnePlus will include wireless charging feature in the 7 or not. We are thinking that OnePlus will keep the Optical fingerprint scanner instead of the new Ultrasonic one to keep the cost of its phone down.
We have heard that there might be a separate 5G version of the OnePlus 7. But OnePlus will probably release it as a special edition phone like the McLaren edition.
This was all the information we could gather on the upcoming OnePlus 7. We will update this article as any major leaks and rumors hit our news feed. OnePlus 6 was unveiled on 16th May 2018. It is still a long way to go for us to officially see OnePlus 7. But this is plenty of time for leaks and rumors to paint a near-perfect picture of what we will be seeing in the launch event.
