Samsung has updated its entry-level phone for 2026. The Samsung Galaxy A08 was announced on September 15 2026 globally, and we can expect it to launch in Nepal within a month as well.

“What’s new with the Samsung Galaxy A08?” is an interesting question, especially since the brand introduced an “s” update to the Galaxy A07 a few weeks earlier. We will get into the details later on, but first, let’s discuss the price.
What is the Price of the Samsung Galaxy A08 in Nepal?
We expect the Samsung Galaxy A08 price in Nepal to be Rs. 35,499 for the 4/64GB variant. While that’s not an official price from Samsung, I’d say that’s a pretty fair estimate considering how Samsung’s budget A-series pricing has been moving lately.
The Galaxy A07 originally launched back in August 2024 at just Rs. 15,999. After the wave of price hikes that pushed smartphone prices up, the same phone eventually climbed to Rs. 25,499.
Then came the A07s in September 2026 at Rs. 30,499, with an increase of Rs. 5,000. So, Rs. 35,499 for the A08 seems like a pretty fair guess.
But again, that’s just my estimate. I would more than happy if Samsung shocks me by pricing the phone at a lower price.
With the pricing out of the way, let’s get into the Galaxy A08 and see what Samsung has changed and what it hasn’t.
Samsung Galaxy A08 Overview
Design-wise, Samsung has taken the safe route with the Galaxy A08. The phone still carries the familiar Samsung budget-phone look, with a glass front, plastic frame, glastic back, and a vertically arranged rear camera setup.
Samsung has really taken the “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” approach. It’s the same with the display too, as the A08 gets the same 6.7-inch PLS LCD with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.
We got the 90Hz update with the A07, so I won’t complain about that this time. But we have only been getting 720p resolution on Samsung’s base A-series phone. Maybe it’s about time we get an upgrade to an FHD screen, Samsung?

The IP rating has improved from IP54 to IP64, which is absolutely great. Many brands have cut back on IP ratings to save some cost. But it’s good to see Samsung not go that route. Then again, the Samsung Galaxy A27 did get a downgrade in that aspect. So maybe things are stabilising.
Under the hood, we once again see the trusty MediaTek Helio G99 chipset that’s built on a 6nm process. But I was a bit surprised to see Samsung revert to the standard G99 on the Galaxy A08 when they had already shipped the Galaxy A07s with a newer variant of the G99 that had LPDDR5X memory support.
But if the phone isn’t getting LPDDR5X memory, then why should it matter, I guess. Talking of the memory reminds me: the phone will likely arrive in 4/64GB, 4/128GB, and 6/128GB trims just like last year.

The Galaxy A08 gets a 50MP ƒ/1.8 main camera and a 2MP secondary sensor, along with an 8MP ƒ/2.0 selfie camera. If that sounds familiar, it’s because it is the same setup the A07 already have. I shared my expectation of a modest ultrawide snapper from Samsung in the article on A07s. Hopefully, next year my expectation turns into reality.
But here is the biggest upgrade on the Galaxy A08 — the battery. We are getting a 6,000mAh battery, which is a massive increase of 1,000mAh from the Galaxy A07 and A07s. That’s a 20% jump! No wonder the phone’s heft went from 188 grams (A07s) to 197 grams!

Software is another area where the Galaxy A08 has a generational advantage. The phone launches with Android 17 and One UI 9. Compared to A07, that’s a jump of two whole Android versions. That’s why there was an “s” update in between that booted on Android 16.
But it’s not like both those phones won’t get the Android 17 update because they qualify for six major OS upgrades and six years of security support. That’s the same with the A08 as well! Its listed security update period runs until September 30, 2032.

So, where does that leave the Galaxy A08? Honestly, I would say “pretty sensible”.
Currently brands are literally downgrading their phones to keep the prices low. But Samsung’s out here bumping the battery to 6,000mAh and dust and water protection to an IP64 rating. Likewise, other brands are still shipping their budget options with Android 16. Some are even sticking to Android 15! But Samsung is providing the latest and greatest to its customers.
That’s great! But the important question is — how much will they charge for it? For that, we will have to wait for the official launch.
