Blackview WAVE 2C Launched in Nepal at Just Rs. 9,999!

Blackview made its name with rugged smartphones, but the brand also offers a strong lineup of budget smartphones and funky gadgets like smart glasses and portable monitors. Now they have combined the funky and budget smartphone into one and launched the Blackview Wave 2C in Nepal.

In this day and age, most smartphone brands have stopped making compact phones and now focus on bigger displays and larger batteries, which is exactly what the market loves. There is a reason we decided to kill off the compact phone segment in the TechLekh Awards 2025: Smartphone Edition.

But that did not stop Blackview from dropping the WAVE 2C in Nepal, whose size is not the only thing that caught our eye! The price is the other interesting thing about this phone. That said…

Blackview is no stranger to budget smartphones. Given that they offered the likes of Shark 9 and A52 Pro, both of which were among the best picks at their price points. The latter one, being in the ultra-budget of around Rs. 10,000, a segment we all thought was done for after the recent price-hike catastrophe.

But turns out Blackview was the hero we did not know we needed, as they are not yet ready to give up on the segment. This raises the obvious question: What are we really getting at Rs. 10,000 in this economy? That’s exactly what we will be delving into in this article:

Blackview WAVE 2C Overview

When it comes to design, the Blackview WAVE 2C takes obvious inspiration from two of the biggest smartphone brands. The flat sides, glossy back, and large circular camera rings give it a look similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra offerings. It is available in two colors, Shadow Black and Blaze Orange.

The Blaze Orange finish resembles the color seen on Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro lineup. Together, these design choices give the WAVE 2C a more premium look than its ultra-budget price suggests.

Its budget roots become obvious once you look at the display. The Blackview WAVE 2C features a 5-inch TFT LCD with a 60Hz refresh rate, 400 nits typical brightness, and a resolution of JUST 480p! Yes, you read that right. This phone, in fact, rocks a 480p display like it’s the 2010s! 

The phone will let you do all the basic tasks, even though it does not have an HD+ display. But don’t be surprised if your texts, photos, and videos look super pixelated. This phone doubles down on the 2010 look by housing the camera, earpiece, and whatever sensor there might be within its thick top bezel. The chin is any better, either.

We are also getting a Panda Glass protection on the front, which is a surprising inclusion at this price point. Especially considering brands like Nothing also used the same glass for its popular (3a) series.

Performance comes from an octa-core UNISOC SC9863A1, which is built on a 28nm process and offers a max CPU frequency of 1.6GHz, which is not winning any benchmarking competition for sure. Moreover, it is paired with 3GB of RAM (expandable up to 9GB virtually) and 32GB of storage, further expandable up to 1TB via TF/microSD card.

As expected from a phone in this price range, the Blackview WAVE 2C keeps its cameras simple — too simple even with a measly 2MP rear camera and a 0.5MP selfie camera. You could imagine what kind of photos you could click with hardware like this. Surprisingly, the phone does support face unlock. So, the half-megapixel front camera isn’t there just for formality.

For the battery, we are getting a 3,000mAh unit, which is minuscule by 2026 standards, since even 5,000mAh cells have started to get dwarfed. That said, given that the phone’s hardware isn’t really demanding, one can expect an entire day of casual usage. Likewise, charging speed is equally outdated as well, capped at just 5W.

Software-wise, the phone runs Android 16 Go edition, a lighter build of Android meant for phones with limited RAM. Additionally, you get a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 4.2, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and triple-satellite navigation (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo). The brand also throws in a free TPU protective case in the box, a good welcome touch for a phone at this price — and at this size.

The WAVE 2C isn’t really competing on specs or anything. Firstly, because it really can’t keep up with any other phone in terms of specs. Secondly, the price it launched at has virtually no competition, at least not anymore.

What it offers is a functioning smartphone that delivers just the basics, making it an easy recommendation for buyers who really do not demand much from their phones, senior citizens, or anyone who wants a minimalist alternative.

It may not offer much beyond the essentials, but we simply cannot complain. Because for Rs 9,999, that’s probably enough!
