Even before its global debut, Nepal is among the first to see the most affordable Redmi A-series smartphone of 2026, the Redmi A7.

The Redmi A7 comes in as a successor to the year-old Redmi A5. And it looks like we are skipping the A6 entirely, similar to how Xiaomi jumped straight from the Xiaomi 15 to the Xiaomi 17, skipping the 16 series altogether.
What is the Price of Redmi A7 in Nepal?
Last year, the Redmi A5 was one of the most affordable phones at launch with some decent specs. Starting at just Rs. 10,999, it was an instant hit.
Fast forward a year, and the A5 now costs Rs. 4,000 more than its launch price. And now, the successor costs even more. The Redmi A7 price in Nepal is Rs. 15,999 for the sole 3/64GB variant.
So compared to the A5’s launch price, the A7 costs Rs. 5,000 more. Let’s just hope we will not see any more price hikes. Fingers crossed.
The phone is available for purchase at Xiaomi authorized stores across Nepal. And just like last time, they are also offering a two-year warranty, pretty impressive for a budget phone, if you ask me.
With that pricing, it is safe to say that the Redmi A7 is not going to be the most affordable phone this year. But then again, the Redmi A5 was Xiaomi’s highest-selling smartphone in Nepal in 2025, so it has that reputation and brand trust going for it. People already know the A series; they know what to expect, and that familiarity is a powerful thing in the budget segment.
And if there are some decent upgrades to back it up, the A7 could very well claim that title in 2026 as well.

Redmi A7 Overview
The Redmi A7 follows similar design choices as the A5, with only one major change — the camera module. It is still pill-shaped, but instead of a black accent, the color now matches the phone’s finish, available in Black, Sky Blue, and Orchid Purple.
The thick border that surrounded the A5’s camera is also gone. Honestly, the phone now looks a lot more minimalistic and premium because of it.

Flip the phone over, and you will see a 6.88-inch IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution. Now, HD+ resolution used to be something you only found on entry-level phones. But with the ongoing smartphone price hikes pushing the same entry-level phones into higher price brackets, HD+ is slowly creeping into a bit more expensive territory.
Shifting to the camera, things might look bad on paper with a 13MP main camera replacing the 32MP one on the A5. But megapixels do not always tell the full story. The A5 had a 1/3.6″ sensor, while the A7’s 13MP lens comes with a slightly larger 1/3.06″ sensor.
In theory, this means better light capture and more reliable performance in low-light environments. That said, we will have to wait until we get the phone in hand to give a final verdict. The front camera, meanwhile, carries over the same 8MP setup as last year.

The hardware remains mostly identical this year with the return of the Unisoc T7250. The processor is now paired with just 3GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. This is a bummer considering we got a 4/128GB variant last year. With the ongoing RAM and storage price hikes, brands sticking to lower variants is understandable — but definitely not ideal.
On the bright side, there’s a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. And for those who still prefer wired audio, the 3.5mm headphone jack makes a return as well.
Speaking of things staying the same, the battery and charging follow suit with the same 5,200mAh unit and 15W charging. Technically, it does not qualify as fast charging, but Xiaomi markets it as such, which is a little misleading. That said, at least it is not the bare minimum 10W that some brands are still offering at this price.
On the software front, Xiaomi has not officially mentioned a specific Android version. However, seeing that the A5 launched with Android 15 Go Edition, there is a good chance the A7 could come with Android 16 Go Edition as well.

The Redmi A7 feels like Xiaomi is playing it very safe. A5 being the best-selling Xiaomi smartphone in Nepal in 2025, it makes sense that they did not want to rock the boat, and identical specs as last year are a clear sign of that.
What makes it hard to get excited is that the phone only ships with 3GB of RAM. And that is a tough pill to swallow for anyone looking for a bit more.
That said, the Redmi A series still has a strong reputation in Nepal, and brand trust goes a long way in the budget segment. If you are a first-time smartphone buyer or upgrading from a feature phone, the A7 still gets the basics right.
