Deepal S03: The Newest Member of Deepal’s S-Series Trying to Break Through in Nepal

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Deepal S03 price in Nepal is expected to be between Rs. 40 Lakhs and Rs. 45 Lakhs.
  • S03 can be available in two variants: Air and Max.

Deepal’s S lineup is getting a new addition in Nepal soon, and this time it is the smallest sibling of the family, the Deepal S03. It steps in with a clear mission to strike the compact e-SUV segment, and it looks promising for the task. And, if all goes to plan, the S03 will arrive in Nepal within the first quarter of 2026.

After securing the official distribution rights for Deepal, Changan’s dedicated New Energy Vehicle subsidiary, MAW Vriddhi AutoCorp has climbed right at the center of Nepal’s growing EV landscape. The Deepal S series has already proven to be a strong pillar for the brand, with models like the S07 and S05 gaining real traction. The S07, in particular, has already become one of Nepal’s most successful electric SUVs.

Riding on that success, the company has now begun preparations to introduce another model to the Deepal S lineup. The upcoming SUV will be known as the S03 in Nepal and is essentially a rebadged version of the Changan Nevo Q05 EV. This rebadging strategy is not new for Deepal Nepal. The brand previously followed the same approach when it launched the Changan Nevo E07 as the Deepal E07 in the local market.

With its arrival, the S03 is expected to become Deepal’s most affordable EV in Nepal. At the moment, the S05 holds that title with a starting price of around 50 Lakhs, so the S03 should slot in below it and open the brand to a wider range of buyers.

Some specs of the Deepal S03 (which is based on the Changan Q05), will probably shift a bit when it arrives in Nepal. A key change will likely be the motor itself such that a toned-down capacity of 100 kW will be seen across all variants.

Let’s have a look at the key specs of Deepal S03 in Nepal for 2025.

Deepal S03 Overview

Exterior

The Deepal S03 follows Changan’s Digital Wing 2.0 design philosophy. The designers in Turin seem to have put real effort into airflow management, and it shows in the sleek front profile. Impressively, the S03 achieves a drag coefficient below 0.3 even without relying on active aero hardware.

When you look at it with a more critical eye, the S03’s styling comes off as a refined and compact take on what the Deepal S07 introduced earlier. The face of the S03 fits well into what you could call assertive minimalism. Since EVs no longer need conventional grilles the sealed-off nose becomes part of the visual identity.

The highlight here is the Smart Wing LED DRL arrangement. These thin, stretched-out light signatures merge into the bumper line and give the SUV a low slung stare. The actual headlamps sit lower, similar to the S07, and the lower fascia contains a modest air intake element that supports cooling.

The S03 also comes with a LiDAR unit (mounted near the top of the windshield) in the international markets. This setup enables more advanced ADAS functions and higher-level environment sensing, but the Nepali market will not receive this configuration.

From the side profile, the S03 follows the familiar formula of today’s compact electric SUVs. It carries a stable stance, with smooth surfaces that avoid unnecessary protrusions to keep the aero efficiency intact. The wheel design looks pleasant and proportional, although the side view does not introduce any standout elements worth dissecting for distinctiveness.

Deepal gives the S03 a wheelbase of 2735 millimeters and offers either 17-inch or 18-inch wheels depending on the variant. Ground clearance hovers around 180 mm, with a minor margin of variation, so 180 mm ± 3% feels like a fair estimate.

There is a common belief in automotive design that a well-executed rear end often echoes the strengths of the front. The S03 fits that idea quite well. The taillight bar runs across the width of the tailgate and mirrors the lighting theme seen at the front. The LEDs branch outward like tiny illuminated feathers, and they likely support sequential effects for turn signals.

Deepal also equips the SUV with a powered tailgate and a reasonably practical cargo area behind it. The lower rear bumper adds a bit more visual activity, featuring integrated diffuser-like elements and a faux skid plate to round off the look.

The exterior color options are Green, Grey, Purple, Silver, White but it is yet to be seen which of the color option will be available for Nepal.

Interior

The interior feels exactly like what you would expect from a modern electric car, especially one coming from a Chinese brand. It comes in two color choices, White and Black, and the overall cabin combines what I’d call ergonomic liberation, i.e., meaning the layout encourages relaxed, intuitive movement, and digital symbiosis, i.e., the screens and physical elements work together as a connected system.

A large 15.6-inch infotainment screen sits at the center of the dashboard that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Unlike the S05 or S07, the S03 sticks to a 10.2-inch physical instrument cluster behind a single spoke steering wheel. Beside the steering mounted controls, the cabin is almost buttons free and the functions and information are controlled and perceived through the screens.

The central console begins with dual AC vents and a pair of phone-holding pads, one of which supports wireless charging. You also get the usual cupholders and a glove box. These features are all familiar, so nothing here pushes the envelope, but they do the job well.

All seats come wrapped in leatherette with recycled fabric inserts. The front seats feel sleek and offers heating, ventilation, and even a massage function. While some of these features may not make it to the Nepali version, the basic comfort should remain intact. Both front seats will likely get power adjustment, and the front passenger seat can recline up to 135°, a setup the brand calls the Queen Seat.

The second row is roomy enough for three adults, with generous legroom and headrests designed to cradle your head as you gaze upward through the panoramic sunroof.

Performance

The Deepal S03 is originally powered by a 120 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor that can generate a max power of 163 PS and a max torque of 190 Nm. However, the S03 will probably be capped around 100 kW of motor output for Nepal. And this setup can push out a max power of 138 PS. The torque figures might probably stay the same as 190 Nm already resides in a low range what the cars of this segment offer.

There are two variants of this car that offer two battery packs and both are based on LFP chemistry. Based on our research these variants appear under the name of Air and Max, but this naming can be different for Nepal. A quick breakdown is as below:

Deepal S03 Variants Battery Capacity CLTC Based Range 7 kW AC Charging
Air   40 kWh 405 km 0 to 100% in around 6 hours
Max 51 kWh 506 km 0 to 100% in around 8 hours
Side Styling in Deepal S03

There is nothing set in stone for the Nepali market for now. The official specs are still fluid and the claimed ranges are based on the generous CLTC cycle. In WLTP we trust!

Moreover, there are some reports of this battery pack to support 3C charging which basically means the battery could theoretically take in power at up to 3 times its capacity during fast charging. But again, there’s not sure of it. However, the S03 can be charged from 30% to 80% in 25 to 30 minutes on an average, with a 60 kW DC fast charging.

Additional Details

McPherson Strut and Torsion Beam handles the suspension duties which are pretty basic suspension setup and usually the tuning leans toward a comfort-based ride.

The dimensions are 4435 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1600 mm in height while the wheelbase is 2735 mm.

The ground clearance, on an optimistic note, for S03 is 180 mm. And, the kerb weight is 1550 kg to 1620 kg, depending upon the variant.

For primary cargo and storage, there is a 60-liter of frunk space and a 410-liter boot space but it has been said that the S03 has a total of 29 storage slots in total throughout, including the frunk and boot space.

Deepal S03 Price in Nepal and Availability

Talking about the price, Deepal S03 price in Nepal can be expected to be between Rs. 40,00,000 to Rs. 45,00,000.There will most likely be two variants sitting somewhere in this price band.

This estimate comes from how Deepal Nepal has positioned its lineup so far. Since the Deepal S05 debuted this year at a starting price of Rs. 50 Lakhs, the S03 needs to land clearly below it to maintain proper lineup spacing. If Deepal follows that logic, the S03 should slot in as the most affordable member of the S series, giving the brand a clean three-EV family.

Furthermore, Deepal is expected to introduce the S03 in the early months of 2026. As official details surface and the spec sheet solidifies, we will continue updating this article with the latest information.

Rivals

The stage is set for the Deepal S03 to enter Nepal, but its road to success will not be an easy one. This segment is brutally competitive and any newcomer must justify its place. The S03 will almost certainly arrive with an aggressive price tag to undercut established players, yet pricing alone will not win the battle. Several other factors will heavily influence how well it lands.

Internationally, the Changan Nevo Q05 EV (the original model behind the S03 badge) was positioned to take on the BYD Atto 3. That narrative does not translate to Nepal because these two fall into completely different pricing tiers here. Instead, the more relevant rival is the Nammi Vigo.

The Vigo already has strong momentum thanks to the success of the Nammi 01 and brings an appealing blend of design, performance, range, and features. Its top variant sits at an approachable 42 Lakhs, which gives it a strong foundation in this class.

The S03 certainly benefits from the positive impression left by its bigger siblings, the S07 and S05, and it follows the familiar Changan design language that many buyers already appreciate.

Its performance also aligns with segment norms, with the expected 99 to 100 kW motor output. However, the real question lies in its driving range. The 40 kWh and 51 kWh battery packs look promising on paper, but without confirmed WLTP figures, expectations remain unclear.

On the feature side, nothing stands out as groundbreaking so far. For instance, the Vigo boasts up to 167 kW fast charging on its top trim, which is a huge advantage in this bracket.

There are scattered reports that the S03’s LFP pack could support 3C charging thanks to the Golden Shield Battery system, but nothing is officially confirmed. Until the brand publishes concrete specifications, there are several open questions that prevent a definitive verdict on how the S03 will perform against its rivals.

For now, the only thing we can say with confidence is that the pricing will likely act as the S03’s biggest hook. Everything else will depend on the final feature list, real-world range, and whether the package feels competitive enough to carve out a space in this crowded segment.
