With the bar set high following the success of the CMF Phone 1, the CMF Phone 2 Pro has big shoes to fill.

Sure, an AMOLED display, a 50MP main sensor, and a 5000mAh battery are expected at this price point. But what really makes the CMF Phone 2 Pro stand out is the inclusion of a telephoto lens—a feature rarely seen in the budget segment.

But is that the only highlight?

Let’s dig deeper and find out what else CMF has packed into this promising budget contender.

CMF Phone 2 Pro Overview

Design

Right out of the box, the CMF Phone 2 Pro continues the bold design language with exposed screws and a corner dial for accessories, but without a removable back panel.

This trades user customization for a slimmer 7.8mm profile and a bump in durability with an IP54 rating (up from IP52). While that might disappoint fans who loved swapping backplates on the Phone 1, CMF hasn’t abandoned modularity entirely.

The corner dial still lets you attach accessories like lanyards, and those screws on the back also serve a purpose: they’re used to mount a universal backplate, unlocking accessory options like a magnetic wallet stand or interchangeable lenses.

In terms of looks, the Orange and White variants offer a more premium dual-tone finish, while the Green and Black versions stick to a glossy monotone plastic that may feel a bit cheap by comparison.

CMF has also added a third rear camera — but more on that later. On the right, you get the volume rocker, and on the left, there’s the power button plus a new Essential Key.

Essential Key

Borrowed from the Nothing Phone (3a), the Essential Key is a multi-function shortcut button. Single press captures the screen, long press records voice memos, and double press takes you to the “Essential Space”, where all your content is organized by AI. It’s great to see Nothing’s software features trickling down to the budget segment.

Cameras

The camera setup is where the CMF Phone 2 Pro really flexes its muscles, and it’s clear CMF put serious thought into this department.

You get the usual 50MP main shooter paired with an 8MP ultrawide, a common combo in this price range. But the real standout is the 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom — a rare and impressive addition that instantly gives this phone an edge over most budget competitors.

Video capabilities are solid too, with the rear camera recording at up to 4K@30fps, while the 16MP front camera handles selfies and 1080p@30fps video.

That said, the ultrawide’s image clarity could be better, and there’s no dedicated macro lens. But this is where CMF’s modular design shines — thanks to the universal backplate, you can attach interchangeable lenses, like a macro or ultrawide, directly to the 50MP main sensor.

This lets users upgrade their camera game without upgrading their phone — a clever and practical feature for photography enthusiasts on a budget.

Display

Up front, the CMF Phone 2 Pro features a 6.77-inch AMOLED panel with a crisp FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2392) and 10-bit color depth, producing over 1 billion colors. With a pixel density of 387ppi, visuals appear sharp and detailed, while the 120Hz refresh rate ensures a fluid scrolling and gaming experience.

It also supports a 1,000Hz touch sampling rate and 2,160Hz PWM dimming, which helps reduce eye strain during extended use. Although the display can hit a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, you’ll typically see around 800 nits indoors and up to 1,300 nits outdoors, making it easily viewable in most lighting conditions.

Protection is handled by Panda Glass — a durable Chinese alternative to Gorilla Glass, offering decent scratch and drop resistance. While the bezels aren’t razor-thin, they’re uniform all around, which gives the phone a clean and balanced look. To top it off, you get an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for secure and convenient unlocking.

Hardware

Powering the CMF Phone 2 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro. Basically, this is the same chipset as the 7300, just rebranded for marketing purposes. But, CMF boasts a 10% boost in CPU performance and a 5% improvement in graphics compared to CMF Phone 1.

Built on a power-efficient 4nm process, the chip includes four Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0GHz, backed by a Mali-G615 GPU for solid graphical output.

The phone ships with 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage, with the added benefit of microSD card support.

Battery and OS

The CMF Phone 2 Pro comes with a 5000mAh rechargeable battery that’ll charge via a USB-C connector. The battery supports 33W fast charging.

In the OS department, the phone is shipped with Android 15 topped with Nothing OS 3.2. On top of that, CMF gives 3 years of major OS updates.

CMF Phone 2 Pro Price in Nepal and Availability

CMF Phone 2 Pro price in Nepal could be Rs. 34,999 (8/128GB) and Rs. 37,999 (8/256GB).

Given how quickly CG brought the Nothing Phone (3a) series to Nepal, it’s safe to assume we won’t have to wait long for the CMF Phone 2 Pro either. In fact, Nothing Nepal’s official social media handles have already started teasing the phone, hinting that the launch might be just around the corner. If the past is any indication, the wait won’t be long.

CMF Phone 2 Pro Price in Nepal [Expected]
8/128GB Rs. 34,999
8/256GB Rs. 37,999

The CMF Phone 2 Pro stands out in the crowded budget smartphone market with its distinctive design and modular accessories. Features like the 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and the clean Nothing OS 3.2 based on Android 15 enhance its appeal.

However, the Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset offers only marginal performance improvements over its predecessor, and the presence of a mono speaker feels outdated compared to the stereo setups commonly found in this price range.

Despite these drawbacks, the CMF Phone 2 Pro’s unique aesthetics and accessory ecosystem make it a compelling choice for those seeking individuality in their devices
