Tecno Camon 20 Overview

Design

The Tecno Camon 20 features a unique back with diamond patterns. The cameras do not have an island and instead, they sit in their two huge rings. A smaller circular flash is beside them.

The flat plastic frame of the device has a glossy finish. The left side has a SIM card tray, which can house two SIM cards and a microSD card.

The bottom side has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a mic, a USB-C port, and a speaker. Interestingly, the phone has a stereo speaker setup with a secondary speaker on the top side.

Likewise, the power and volume buttons are located on the right side.

Display

The phone features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. Unfortunately, the display is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate.

It has a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The phone has an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. Moreover, the display also has a 1920Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye fatigue.

Hardware

The Tecno Camon 20 is equipped with MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, which is built on a 12nm process technology. It has two Cortex-A75 CPU cores clocked at 2.0GHz and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The graphics are handled by Mali G52 GPU.

The Helio G85 is a decent chipset for phones ranging from entry-level to lower-budget. However, for a phone approaching the midrange category, the G85 may not provide good value for money, although the processor is capable of handling casual games. On the bright side, the phone comes with large 256GB storage and 8GB RAM.

Camera

The Camon 20 comes with a triple-camera setup comprising a 64MP main camera, 2MP depth, and an “AI camera.” The purpose of the AI camera is unknown.

The front features a 32MP selfie camera with a dual flash.

Battery and OS

The phone includes a 5000mAh battery. Tecno says the phone supports 33W fast charging. However, the company only provides an 18W charger with the phone.

For software, the phone boots on HiOS 13 based on Android 13.

The Tecno Camon 20 has some interesting features for a budget phone. It has an AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint sensor, a stereo speaker setup, a 64MP camera, a 32MP selfie, and a 33W fast charging support.

However, the phone lacks high-refresh-rate support for its display and is powered by a subpar Helio G85 processor. Furthermore, despite supporting 33W fast charging, the phone only comes with an 18W charger in the box.
