The Redmi Pad 2 is Xiaomi’s latest shot at the budget tablet space—and with so few options available in this segment, it already feels like a strong contender by default.

Powering the device is one of the most popular chips in the entry-level market—the Helio G100, which is essentially a successor to the beloved Helio G99.

Redmi Pad 2 Overview

Design

The Redmi Pad 2 brings in a much-needed design upgrade with a flat aluminum body and flat frame, giving it that modern, minimalist vibe. It actually feels quite similar to the higher-end Xiaomi Pad 7, which isn’t a bad thing at all—especially when you factor in the budget price tag.

From the back, it has a single linear camera, no flashy modules or unnecessary extras. Up top, you’ll find the power button, while the volume rocker lives on the right edge. Pretty standard tablet layout, but it’s all clean and well-placed.

In terms of size, the Pad 2 clocks in at just 7.36mm thick—a slight bump from the previous model, but still slim enough to feel sleek in the hand.

At the bottom, there’s a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. What you won’t find, though, is a fingerprint sensor. So, you’ll have to settle for face unlock or a traditional PIN. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting.

Display

The Redmi Pad 2 sports an 11-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels. It’s sharp enough for most users, especially at this size—but the 90Hz refresh rate is a bit of a letdown in 2025. With more tablets offering 120Hz and beyond, 90Hz feels… a little behind the curve.

Brightness-wise, you get 500 nits typical, with 600 nits under HBM (High Brightness Mode). That’s fine for indoor use, but take it out under bright sunlight, and you’ll probably find yourself squinting.

On the responsiveness front, the screen features a 360Hz touch sampling rate, which is great for fast navigation and casual gaming. But if you’re using a stylus, the responsiveness drops slightly to 240Hz.

There’s no official mention of Gorilla Glass or any kind of screen protection, so a screen guard might be a smart first accessory. The display does carry TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free viewing, and circadian-friendly output.

Hardware

Powering the Redmi Pad 2 is the newly introduced MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra, a 6nm chip that can clock speeds up to 2.2GHz. It’s paired with the Mali-G57 MC2, which isn’t groundbreaking but should hold up just fine for everyday tasks.

And hey, this is the first time we’re seeing the G100, successor to the G99, on a tablet in Nepal, so it’s kind of a debut performance.

The base variant offers 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage. But for extra headroom, you might want to opt for 8/256GB. And in case that still isn’t enough, the microSD slot supports up to 2TB.

As for audio, you’re getting a quad-speaker setup, with four individual cutouts that create a surprisingly immersive audio experience.

Cameras

Let’s be real—tablets aren’t built for photography, and the Redmi Pad 2 keeps that tradition alive. The cameras here are purely functional.

On the back, you get a single 8MP f/2.0 shooter. Up front, there’s a 5MP selfie camera tucked into the frame. Both cameras support 1080p video recording at 30fps, which is pretty much the standard in this segment.

Battery and OS

Keeping everything running is a massive 9,000mAh battery. However, there’s a catch: charging tops out at just 18W. That’s on the slower side, especially when you’re refueling a battery this big.

On the software front, the Redmi Pad 2 boots up with Android 15, layered with Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 2.

Redmi Pad 2 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Redmi Pad 2 price in Nepal is Rs. 24,999 (6/128GB) and Rs. 29,999 (8/256GB). It is now up for pre-booking via authorized Xiaomi stores across Nepal, and Xiaomi’s sweetening the deal with a pretty neat launch offer.

As part of the pre-booking promo, customers will receive a free Redmi Buds 5A. But heads up: this offer is only valid until June 20, 2025.

6/128GB Rs. 24,999
8/256GB Rs. 29,999

The Redmi Pad 2 is a meaningful refresh to Xiaomi’s budget tablet lineup. It’s not flashy, but absolutely functional—and that’s exactly what most people want from a tablet at this price.

With the new MediaTek Helio G100, it should deliver the right amount of power for day-to-day tasks, casual browsing, and streaming. Pair that with the massive 9,000mAh battery, and you’ve got yourself a reliable workhorse for students, light productivity users, or anyone simply looking to consume content on the go.

If you’re in the market for a budget-friendly tablet that performs well without burning a hole in your pocket, the Redmi Pad 2 is a pretty solid bet.
