Out of the seven interested companies, the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has selected Environment and Resource Management Consultant (ERMC) as the consultant for two satellite cities.
ERMC will be asked to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) of proposed satellite cities in the southwest and southeast of Kathmandu Valley. These cities are proposed to be constructed in an area of 10,000 ropanis.
Bhaikaji Tiwari, development commissioner of KVDA informed, “After the analysis of the technical and financial proposals of the bidders we have selected ERMC as the consultant to prepare the DPR of the two satellite cities.”
KVDA had opened a global tender for these cities on October 12. It has already called ERMC for final discussions and to sign the agreement. After the agreement has been signed, the consultant will be responsible to submit the DPR within one year from the date of the agreement.
Along with this, KVDA is also analyzing the proposals for two other satellite cities, to the north and northeast of Kathmandu Valley. The consultant for these cities will be selected within the next 15 days. The government plans to complete the construction of the cities within five years of finalizing the DPR.
