HH Bajaj, the official distributor of Bajaj motorcycles in Nepal, first introduced the Pulsar N160 in 2022. Building on its strong market response, the company rolled out an upgraded version just six months after its initial launch.

The newest Bajaj Pulsar N160 comes with a much-awaited upgrade, closely following in the footsteps of the recently refreshed Pulsar N250. While the core design and engine configuration remain unchanged (same performance as before), but it has upgraded the three key points in the N160, i.e., the Suspension, ABS Modes, and Digital Meter.

Among the three, the 37mm Upside-Down Fork upgrade is the most significant, replacing the traditional telescopic fork, which enhances front-end stability and overall ride agility, not to mention the overall appeal of the bike. Furthermore, the Fully Digital Instrument Cluster is another major improvement, that now supports Turn-by-Turn Navigation and ABS Ride Modes.

Naturally, these updates have led to a slight price hike, but considering the improved features and ride dynamics, the value proposition of the N160 has only become stronger.

According to Bajaj Nepal, both variants of the Pulsar N160 will continue to be available, offering riders the freedom to choose based on their preferences and budget.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 Overview

Design

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar N160 commands a strong on-road presence with its muscular design, inspired by the “Sculptural Purity” principle that first debuted with the larger Pulsar N250.

At the front, the new Pulsar N160 sports a bold Bi-Projector LED Headlamp, flanked by aggressive-looking naked wolf LED DRLs. While there are some aerodynamic perk to it but on a writer’s note it also arguably stands out as the best headlamp design in the 160cc segment.

Moving on, the Switchgear has also seen a subtle yet noticeable update. Bajaj has now integrated the High Beam, Low Beam, and Pass Light functions into a single unit on the left switchgear. Just below it sits a new Mode button that lets riders easily toggle through the information on the digital cluster.

From the side, the sculpted fuel tank retains the familiar Pulsar silhouette but now appears more striking, thanks to the updated N160 decals. The Dual-Tone Color Scheme (Body Color & Blacked-out Engine Casing), Tank Shrouds, Underbelly Exhaust, and Engine Pan contribute to its sporty design language, while the Split-seat setup enhances its aggressive character. However, the elevated rear seat might make getting on and off a bit challenging for pillion riders.

The bike rides on 17-inch Alloy Wheels paired with Disc Brakes at both ends, delivering solid stopping power. And, in terms of instrumentation, Bajaj has replaced the older Infinity Analog-Digital meter with a Fully Digital Cluster across both the Standard and USD variants. But, with features like Turn-by-Turn Navigation, the UG2 does a bit more for riders!

At the rear, the N160 retains its signature Infinity LED tail lamp, along with split grab rails, a clean rear mudguard, and sleek flush-mounted turn indicators, design elements that continue to define its sharp rear profile.

Additionally, the UG2 variant (new) is available in Brooklyn Black, Polar Sky Blue, and Pearl Metallic White color options while the UG1 variant (old) continues to be offered in Brooklyn Black and Caribbean Blue colors.

Performance

Bajaj Pulsar N160 is powered by a 164.82cc, Single-Cylinder, 4-stroke, Air-cooled, SOHC FI engine. It can generate a max power of 16PS at 8750 rpm and a max torque of 14.65Nm at 6750 rpm.

Moreover, it is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a 14-liter fuel tank capacity.

The powertrain figures remain unchanged, as the 2025 Pulsar N160 continues to deliver the familiar Pulsar grunt, powered by a trademark wide torque band that ensures 85% of peak power is accessible across a broader rev range. This results in a more responsive and flexible engine character, especially in urban and highway conditions.

One of the standout traits of the N160 is its taller gear ratios, setting it apart from the competition. These longer gears help maintain engine refinement across varying speeds, making high-gear overtakes smoother and more effortless.

A notable new feature is the addition of three ABS modes: Road, Rain, and Off-Road, accessible via a the Mode Button on left-side controls of handle. But, the N160 still misses out on Traction Control, a feature now reserved for the bigger Pulsar N250.

Additional Features

Bajaj has equipped the top-end Pulsar N160 with Champagne-colored 37mm Upside-Down (USD) forks, whereas the standard variant continues with the 37mm Telescopic Forks. Both versions share a 5-Step Adjustable Mono-Shock at the rear.

The ground clearance stands at 165mm, while the wheelbase measures 1358mm..

Interestingly, the kerb weight differs slightly between the two variants, 152 kg for the USD version and 154 kg for the standard version, making the premium variant slightly lighter despite the added hardware.

However, unlike the Pulsar N250, the N160 does not feature a wider 140-section rear tyre, instead continuing with the 130-section unit.

Both variants are equipped with Dual-Disc Brakes and Dual-Channel ABS as standard, ensuring solid braking performance and safety.

Rivals

Bajaj Pulsar N160 rivals TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

First comes the price. The Bajaj N160 sits slightly above the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V in terms of cost. But beyond pricing, the real difference lies in what each bike sets out to offer. The Apache RTR 160 4V aims squarely at performance enthusiasts. It packs features like Ride Modes, a strong power-to-weight ratio, and a 4-valve engine, and all of these points toward a more aggressive riding experience.

In contrast, the N160, even with its recent updates, doesn’t lean heavily into that performance-focused space.

Instead, it carries a more laid-back character. It relies on its torque delivery rather than chasing quick 0 to 60 kmph times, and its taller gear ratios help it achieve a higher top speed than the RTR 160 4V.

One area where the N160 clearly pulls ahead is safety. It’s the only one in the segment to offer Dual-Channel ABS, which gives it a significant advantage over its rivals.

In a verdictive tone, when it comes strictly to performance, the Apache RTR 160 4V holds the upper hand. It feels like an energetic 20-year-old, lively, eager, and sharp. Meanwhile, the N160 comes across as the more mature option, like someone in their late 20s who has seen a bit more of the world but is still high on spirit. Supported by Bajaj’s robust after-sales service and widespread availability of spare parts, the N160 makes a strong case as the wiser choice between the two.
