Hamro Patro Health, a telehealth service offered by Nepal’s most popular app Hamro Patro, has received over 500 calls within the first 3 months of operation.
The pilot phase of the telehealth service began in November 2021, allowing Hamro Patro users to consult with a specialist doctor on-demand directly through the app. It made it easier for Hamro Patro users to get health consultations at home without having to visit a hospital in search of a specialist.
Currently, the service offers more than 50 specialists. Hamro Patro reported that the majority of consultations were with pediatricians, internal medicine physicians, and gynecologists. Likewise, the majority of calls were from Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, and Pokhara.
To attract more users, Hamro Patro is currently offering telehealth consultations through the app for only Rs. 200. Previously, the ticket cost Rs. 500. However, the offer is only valid for this month.
Shankar Uprety, founder and CEO of Hamro Patro, Inc., said that their goal is to make it easy for Nepali people to get help from a specialist doctor at a low cost when they need it.
He believes that because of its low cost and ease of use, people in rural areas who do not have access to doctors or clinics will find telehealth technology extremely useful.
“Users’ trust in us in such a short period of time is admirable. I’d like to thank everyone who has believed in us and supported us. Their positive feedback has inspired us to further improve the telehealth service.”

Upcoming Features in Hamro Patro Health
Uprety also stated that new features will be available to users soon. The new features will allow users to chat with the doctor for follow-ups and make an appointment with a doctor by choosing a date and time in Hamro Patro’s calendar.
In addition, the platform intends to launch a health forum where users can discuss any health-related topic and a facility for performing lab tests and ordering medicine from home.
