Moomin Returns in 2019; Classic Cartoon With Revamped Animation

Raise your hands if some part of your childhood was spent with Moomin. These dorky kids of today never got to see the ‘real’ cartoons of our age. The white, puffy cute characters in Moomin have given me lots of fond memories. Naturally, I jumped in excitement when the first look at the ultra-highly anticipated Moominvalley TV emerged on the internet.

Just look at this beauty. The graphics look mesmerizing, the characters look refreshed yet familiar. They look ready to win the hearts of the new generation of kids.

According to the Internet, the series has been made using brand new techniques in 3D computer-generated imagery. The new characters display an innovative design style, combining state of the art 3D and computer-generated imagery, whilst staying true to the magical, illustrated characteristics that fans of the Moomins have loved for generations.

The first look of MoominValley TV series was revealed on 27th November 2018. The new look characters of Moomin seem impressive and has that next-gen graphics that most of the kids from today can relate to. Back when we watched Moomin on NTV, it had classic animations but the narration and characters were the main things that drew us towards it. Now that I remember the old school Moomin, the Nepali dub was really impressive. The reveal included characters such as Moomintroll, Snorkmaiden, Snufkin, Moominpapa, Moominmamma, Little My, and Sniff. The all-new character animation of the Moomin looks very impressive, the color palates seem very radiant, and we hope that it will be as good as it was already.

The series is produced by Gutsy Animation, a production company based in Tove Jansson’s (creator of Moomin) home city, Helsinki. Gutsy has struck a deal with Columbia Records, part of Sony Music Entertainment, which will see numerous Sony artists contribute songs to the show’s soundtrack. Each of the episodes will include a featured track by one of the record label’s artists. Who are Sony’s artists you say? They may be any one of Beyonce, Shakira, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, and others. This is really going to be a star-studded affair.

The first season of Moominvalley will consist of thirteen twenty-two-minute episodes, featuring new stories. The show is airing on Sky One, Sky Kids and NOW TV in Spring 2019 in the UK and on public broadcaster YLE in Finland in February 2019. I am hoping that it will arrive in Nepal soon.
